Scores of three and four are not unusual and not necessarily a sign of abuse. Ribs are visible. My 4 yr old thoroughbred will not go past a 4 no matter how much grain and green grass he has. Our other two horses will stay at a 6 on the same pasture with less feed. Scores of 1 and 2 are signs the horse is not being fed enough.
