Many safety engineers refused to sign off on things of this nature, or other safety issues, like inadequate fire protection in the case of earthquakes in some recent court cases. Some brought up the issues directly to the department of energy, bypassing the NRC and angering the smoke filled room. They were fired and effectively blackballed from positions as safety engineers at nuke plants in the US. Some of those people now protest certain nuclear power plants that they themselves worked as safety engineers. makes u think go away clean coal no one cares
