Problem description: I have a monitor that has a single DVI-I output which supports digital and analog signals (HDMI adapter and VGA adapter both work). I want to use the digital signal and the HDMI port is already taken. When I plug the DVI-I in directly into my computer, it defaults to an analog signal. It looks like Nvidia is detecting that the monitor has analog so it's sending analog signal. So my question. How the hell do I force nvidia to send out digital signal through this DVI-I port? Attempted fixes: 1. Looked in NVIDIA control panel which says my monitor is connected via "VGA" which is not correct. Although I guess they're counting DVI-I analog signal as "VGA"? Who knows. Regardless, can't find a way to change it to digital. 2. I found this page from 2010 http://obscure-tech-tips.blogspot.com/2010/01/forcing-your-nvidia-card-to-send.html Which works but basically creates a "Always use 2 monitors with digital signal out" registry. This computer is hooked up to a projector which is sometimes active in the living room so I'd rather not change registry every time I want to use it. -- Operating system: Windows 7 System specs: Nvidia GTX 670 I have Googled and read the FAQ: Yes

Why not just use a DVI-D cable so the analog video isn't passed? Here are high-quality (24AWG) dual-link DVI-D cables from Monoprice.
