Pubbies tried to build a castle near the main stone spawn on the map, ended up getting hung for crimes against the king.

I haven't laughed so much in so long. This game is the silliest loving thing. From our frequent purges of the king's preserve, to dragging a willing sexslave through the rocks and dirt all the way to each house we raided, to listening to pubbies cry and try to talk big when they get surrounded and shackled.

So has Flax finally turned into the typical goons-abusing-pubbies commune rather than a few goons rabidly scrambling not to be slaughtered?

I'll be on later once I'm done with everything today. If there's pubbies around, I have some exciting new ideas for Royal Games to play with them.

Drag Racing!

3 or more goons with captives drag their slaves to the starting point, and at the finish line are an equal number of cages. Goal is to drag your captive all the way there and stuff him in the cage first. Winning slave gets to go free and is given a horn. Last place gets executed, and the runners up get to play the second game!

Gauntlet!

Not literally, but they're dragged one at a time to the front gate, then released. If they can reach the end of the bridge while dodging all the javelins and stones we throw at them the whole way down, they're free. If they die? Well, their stuff is ours.

I think we need more crest set up around the kings head it seems they were able to build around the claimed stuff to get in.

Hey has anyone here ever played on that one Minecraft server where it was team PvP and it was Red team vs Blue team and you had to destroy/infiltrate the other teams castles via TNT or being clever? I can't remember what it was called but I had a lot of fun there and this game seems similar to me. I was wondering if I was right.

Also whomever is running the server can you change the name or add the server details to make it more attractive to kill pubbies? (Like Zero Flax Given - New World/PvP/timezone for hosting etc etc)

Updated name as requested.
Running off the nakeds will not help server growth. IMO let them get a little invested and develop a false sense of security. This group is a big group and most randoms leave very shortly after being destroyed repeatedly without mercy. I'd imagine the server will lack diversity if it maintains course.
Just a thought on how to grow the server. Give it some consideration.

The raiders have been found and dealt with. We found their secret base, reclaimed our stuff, and we joined the king in a bloody melee inside their base once we breached the walls.

They fought like cowards, and the floor was literally covered in blood and corpses when we were done. No goons fell in battle, and our castle grows larger by the day.

Aaaand a hacker is getting butthurt that we killed him and destroying everything. Yay.

We need our own server.

So he's gone now. Things they can do:
-Dupe items
-Phase through walls
-Talk as other people
-Kill people instantly by making their heads explode.
-change people's appearance

Things they can't do:
-be invulnerable
-travel any faster than the rest of us
-stand it when they're called out for being obvious hackers.

So we basically killed his dumb rear end a few times, he got mad that we were gaining loot from his stupid dupes and were taunting him for dying repeatedly. He then turned us all blue and fat before throwing a hissy fit and leaving.

What is the general consensus on the apparent longevity of this game? I have a group of friends (roughly 4-6) that have been cracking up to the various videos and how the game looks pretty fun. We all played Rust together and had a good time until the devs decided to push the reset button and that game is somewhat in limbo at the moment. This game seems much more feature complete and enjoyable and some of my group is talking about maybe picking it up. Does it seem like something that will really go somewhere or is it likely that it'll be dead in 2-3 months?

RoK Update Alpha 11
3:55pm
This update contains some major backend changes to help prevent hacking. We have integrated Easy Anti Cheat (EAC) with the game, and you will be required to install it before running the game. EAC will run in the background after you launch Reign of Kings, when you are done playing, EAC will stop running. We felt it was best to have a major anti-hacking solution on our side while we also work to prevent exploits and hacks on our end. We also included another layer of our own hack prevention in this update aside from EAC. You will now also be required to agree to our EULA before playing the game. We hope everyone understands that we are doing our best to prevent hacking, and we hope some of these solutions help out. We will continue to make this our top priority in the near future.

/>

Do not risk hacking/exploiting the game, as this may result in your account being permanently banned through the EAC system. Bans will be delivered in waves, we will not elaborate on the exact timing.

Edit: If you are experiencing error "Please run from Reign of Kings.exe" - please try restarting windows to fix this.

For Community Servers:

You will need to delete your permission file, don't worry, it will auto-generate when you restart your server. Otherwise users may experience problems with users connecting to your server (stuck on downloading characters). Please clear your permission file. The permission file is located under the Configuration folder next to your ROK.exe.

For more info on upgrading to Alpha 11:

/>

As with the last update - Due to the current anti-hacking layers, modding of the game is not permitted at this time, this would include language packs or other localization attempts. Please verify the integrity of your game cache and keep your DLLs and game files unmodified to avoid unwanted banning or being added to a ban list. If you are unsure you can verify your game files through steam by selecting "Verify Integrity of Game Cache..." in your game's properties under "Local Files".

Looking forward to the next week, our main focus will once again be on hack prevention, and also on performance.

This update also includes many bug fixes, design changes, and some new features like a trap door & furniture. You can find the full list below.

Why do the devs of these games consistently make it harder to have fun?

There is a good chance that they might lower the crafting costs again, these last few patches have had crafting costs waffling back and forth, for example the ballista used to cost 500 iron ingots. Before this patch what a lot of people were doing is either gunning straight for stone brick tier building materials are forgoing building a base and just going straight towards siege weaponry. From a design standpoint they want players to make use of lower tier materials and want to stretch out the time before players hit top tier weaponry so that on a fresh server wipe, there is mare time for players to actually get more complex bases built before everyone starts lobbing rocks at each other. The game is still in early development that I can wait to see if it improves for the better, however since EAC is now integrated, hopefully the ban on modding of the game will be lifted soon so we might see some server side plugins that allow for custom crafting costs.

So it is understandable why they made these tweaks, but yeah, I agree, changes to the stone blocks and slabs don't really sound fun. I would rather the Trebuchet cost another thousand wood than 25 more ingots, the siegeworks cost however is kind of stupid. I'm still holding out that tier 1-3 blocks have their crafting cost lowered by another 5-10 units. The cap of stone needs to go, as does the cap on wood, I'm unsure what the design decision is behind that when the player is able to carry multiple trebuchets and enough meter thick cubes to build a castle on their person.

That said, I am all for cages and what not having their costs drastically reduced, that kind of softens the blow for the extra iron needed for the treb and seigeworks. Overall, the good and new poo poo outweighs the more silly changes, hope they keep up the pace. Also, they need to add a way to have your character lean over so it is easier to build outwards when you are standing on a block, fallen to my death so many times building towers. :v:
