Yes, I think U.S. people just outnumber most others on this forum. Sea to Sky Highway is a great choice though, it's been a while since I've been to B.C. :(

I actually thought the take your wallet out of your pocket would have more answers for #8. I thought I used to see people post it a lot.

I put Route 66 because, well, it's the definitive road trip, isn't it? Perhaps more so if you're from outside the US.

I put it because aside from the fact that it is idolized as some great road, it also doesn't really get you anywhere useful. Unless you live in a town where it still exists, the only reason you would seek out Old 66 is specifically for the road itself. Anywhere it can still take you has better options, either more direct or possibly even better driving. The only places it can take you that no other road can, are places that pretty much only still exist because of 66.

Cash is king, but I've had luck with just informing my bank that I plan to travel, destinations, and when I'm going so that they don't pull this kind of bullshit. So far it has been working.

Well, at face value, Big Spur and Pacific Coast Highway don't seem to refer to the same place, if you're not familiar with it. I doubt MrChips is going to go through every answer and check it on google maps to make sure we're not referring to the same place.

I'm pretty sure I actually answered the Trans-America Trail for this question, which is an offroad trail running east/west along the continental US. The Pan-Am highway looks like a north/south route going through the americas. While you're free to hand out pity points I'm aiming to lose here :argh:.

Yeah that's pretty funny. Though I was thinking more in terms of road safety-my actual answer was 'stay cool and hydrated' since those things (esp. the former) keep you more alert and let you drive a lot longer before driver fatigue sets in.
