how about deep space or the heart of a star for that matter idiot op all time travel is also space travel what we call the solarsystem is just an impending inevitable catastrophe spiraling through space which only continues to exist by virtue of there being enough void with which to plummet into hth

Just finished that movie about 30 minutes ago. Good question, but its right in there with "why even send loopers back to themselves?" and the other several dozen glaring holes. Ok flick if you're fine with suspending your disbelief. I thought the end was decently well developed.

Probably because their time machine is really lovely and it can only go so far. Or maybe because the energy signature of sending something really far back is detectable by the gov.

i always assumed closing a loop was just one of the many illegal tasks you did and the benefit of doing it was you get a ton of gold bars when you have to kill yourself so you are rich now and you will die a violent death later in life but you are in organized crime so that was likely anyway. Seems like a pretty good deal to be rich for like 30 years

It's fun and dumb and they have a whole scene focused on not even attempting to talk about paradoxes.

If there isn't the incentive of gold bars upon closing your own loop then you wouldn't want to be a criminal

Hahah you're probably right. But the mafia time machine did look really lovely. Like a bootleg setup. So its sort of reasonable to expect it's not so good.

It reminded me of the time machine from the Denzel/Fat Val Kilmer movie with timetravel the name of which I can't recall just this second but it was almost exactly identical Hollywood's concept of a timemachine: probably something like a washing machine with copper mesh n' stuff
