A bunch of names synonymous with "difficult to work with prima donna geniuses" in the 1970s were improbably on-track to make a film adaptation of a famously difficult and tripped-out sci-fi book together, prompting idiot stoners everywhere to marvel at how good it could have been even though any finished product is nigh-guaranteed to have been an interesting failure at best.
