The Leafs scheduled a conference call with the press to announce when they extended Carlyle after collapsing last season, it's not unheard of for a team to make positive-ish announcements in public when there's turmoil so that they can preempt a lot of commentary in the articles to be written. That guy's totally getting fired though.
