Honest question, I hit up kat for the first time in a while and when I try to get a torrent it opened a new tab with 'do you want to download this" kind of option and when I look at the file it wants me to download it's an executable that's nothing like a torrent. Is this just fake webpage or is it the this just a new style of torrenting.

To clarify for people not getting it, I was trying to snag something legal from kat but when I hit the magnet button instead of opening my torrent client and asking about download permissions and such it opened a new tab and then tried to download some executable I obviously as a not idiot canceled, I'm just curious if this is the new torrent thing or if there's copycat kat site.

It's probably just to verify that you downloaded the file. Since it's legal I wouldn't be worried, in fact I would turn off my virus protection before installing since that can interfere with the installation of many of the legal executable files file on kat.

Back in 2009 I torrented the Wire since everyone on SA said it was the best show ever. It wasn't but that's not the point. I got a letter from my ISP giving me a warning for torrenting the show. I have been an HBO subscriber since 1999, and my parents were before me since like 1980. Righteously pissed off, I ended up handwriting and emailing HBO, saying that I had been a paying member when the Wire was showing and I didn't think it was right that they were punishing a paying customer for being too busy to watch a show when it was airing and expecting me to buy a 40$ per season DVD. A little while later HBO Go launched. It was because of me. You are welcome.

Yea OP since torrent sites are seedy as poo poo anyway they have no problem putting 1000 ads on their page that all resemble the usual torrent download links and it takes a careful eye to spot the real one. Something grumble something about honor among thieves is dead
