The fedora was named for the 1882 play Fedora, in which The Divine Sarah Bernhardt wore a close-brimmed hat in her role as Princess Fedora Romanoff. She was known for wearing masculine clothing, so it's a little misleading to call the fedora a "women's hat" but yeah, it's totally a women's hat.

When I was in high school I saw a fedora and started wearing it. Then a couple years later that poo poo blew up and now neckbeards around the world love fedoras and it's associated with the dumbest poo poo ever so it's just sitting in my closet, never to be worn again unfortunately.
