Yay a new crapping game! Why should I care about this game when there are so many others like it/Clash of Clans? It’s different enough that it adds a little flavor to make it feel like a somewhat new game. DomiNations is essentially a Clash of Clans clone that was mated with Civilizations/Age of Empires. There a lot more to do in the idle time you have waiting for troops to finish training or upgrades which is a breath of fresh air actually. It is still new, so there are some AI issues, other stuff that is frustrating like losing connectivity but whatever, I’m sure it’ll get fixed at some point. Goon on goon sadventures! As of right now there Goon Privilege #2poor4crowns Make sure to uncheck the “clean chat” button. So you can cuss and stuff. Before you join, don’t forget you will need to rebuild the alliance gate located at the top left of your map. It’s not too hard, and afterwards you can talk with other goons. Alliance wars isn’t a thing right now. Resources Gold This is the first of three things you get to use to buy stuff. Gold can be taken from people via raids, and harvested from Gold Mines, Caravans, certain animals like Fox, Bear, and Rabbit. and Roads. Mainly used for defense stuff. Second of the resources. Primarily used to upgrade troops, and certain buildings. Looks like ham. Take ham from raids or from Fruit Trees, and Farms. Also Deer, Stag, and Boar Trade Goods You get a variety of things like diamonds, casks of fruit, fur, leather and mining ore to use to hire mercenaries. Randomly awarded when killing animals. Crowns This is the gems of clash of clans, pay money, get stuff. Currently there is an offer for to get an extra worker house as well as 1200 crowns. You get a lot first starting out so you really don’t NEED it, but you can gem to the Iron Age fairly quickly. Buildings The buildings in this game vary a little bit in which you can get wonders, gates and other stuff. Will explain more below Town Center This is your brain center much like your CoC town hall, there are certain perks that your town hall can get determining your nation selection. The main thing to remember is that roads will not generate revenue if they are not connected to your town center at all. House These are your builders. Every house gives you two workers, one man and one woman. No stuff goes on at all in these houses, don’t try to breed them. Caravans Stupid donkey people give you gold. Lots of gold. Upgrade them, get more gold. Simple math Roads Roads need to be connected to your town hall in order to generate gold. Every building that is connected to the road will increase the amount you can get by 10%. Roads will take a bit to work out your base in conjunction with walls. Gates are the only thing you can put across roads to block access to attacking troops. Gold mine These can be harvested once every hour or so. There are some gold mines that you will uncover when clearing land away, but those will disappear, but only two will remain. Fruit Trees Who the gently caress eats fruit? Why the gently caress is ham coming from the tree? Farms Make delicious ham. Lots of ham, all of it. Animals You can send your workers out to go kill animals and will jump for joy as soon as they feel the satisfaction of murdering one of God’s cute creatures. Except boars, gently caress boars. Them fuckers are scary. Bunnies - Gold 1 Worker Deer - Ham 2 Workers Fox - Gold 2 Workers Stag - Boar - Ham 4 Workers Bear - Gold 6 Workers Kill the pig! Cut his throat! Kill the pig! Bash him in! Storage Your mills and markets hold your ham and gold respectively. Upgrade these and hold more stuff. Same with storehouses, upgrade to hold more trade goods. Defenses Do I need to explain this? Watch Towers Towers are the first defense thing you get. They do ok, no preferred targets, and stuff. Garrisons House troops to come out and defend your village. They will spawn every ~28 seconds and the type of troops will upgrade with the garrison level. Catapult Them shits kill stuff from far away, and will hurt your things that are in a group. Ballista Tower Big ol loving cross bow that open palm slaps a VHS copy of “Best of Katniss Aberdeen’s Archery skillz” every morning. Redoubt No idea what this does. It says it’s a short range group destroyer. Stable Sends in cavalry units to help kill things a la garrisons Walls They are walls, China built a big one and Germany tore one down. Gates Allow access for your troops to move about in the base. They cannot hop over walls and need gates to go to wherever the people are killing your buildings. They are also the only thing that can connect walls over a road. Spike Trap One use (rechargable) item that will damage troops that walk across it. Needs to be recharged before getting used again. Caltrops Legos essentially. Slows down enemy troops. Needs to be recharged. Normal Buildings Alliance Gate: On the upper left of your map. This broken down gate is what will open the door to the goon world and their help. Upgrading it will allow more troops to be able to be held in your town center for defensive use or to use on attack. Barracks: This is where your troops essentially get made and sty. Upgrade this and you will have more troops to use to attack. You get a max of three. Mercenary Camp: Hire mercenaries to attack for you, much like real life. You can buy different types of mercenaries by spending trade goods. Upgrade this and you can eventually hold more than just one type of mercenary. Easy. Blacksmith: You upgrade stuff here. Lots of stuff, like troops. Make them stronger, faster, sturdier, and everything else. You also get new type of troops eventually. Libraries: These things aren’t just for free internet anymore! Your city library has the best of Ayn Rand and associated literature. Also upgrades! These are more centric around upgrading how many roads you can have, if you want to have goons hiding in the forest to come and defend you when you are in danger like the white knights they are. Upgrades will also unlock trees so you do have to do the whole ‘unlock this to be able to unlock this’ thing. Castle: You get a general eventually. This is where he lives. loving Prima Donna War Academy: You unlock tactics here which are like spells. First aid heals people, Barrage which is like a big arrow storm a la 300 or whatever. Not sure what else the other ones are but I’ll add them as soon as I get more info. Wonders: Bronze Age Wonders are a permanent buff that you build that becomes a part of your lay out. Each has it’s own unique property and you can only choose one (1) per age. There are three (3) ages that you can choose from: Bronze, Classical, and Gunpowder. You build wonders in stages which will require you to set your workers aside for a while. Once you complete the stages the perk will be available. Pyramids: Pyramids grant boosts to nearby farms, which is good I guess for later ages, but at the start I don’t think the reported 20% boost will do too much. I wouldn’t recommend this perk really, it’s fairly underwhelming as a whole, and since you’ll get most of your hams from raiding I’d recommend something else. Also currently bugged to only give you twenty (20) food additionally. Acropolis: The Acropolis makes your defending army tougher from the garrisons. It also speeds up the troop spawning times by a fairly significant amount. Health increase by 15% and speeds up the spawn time by 20%. This is a fairly decent wonder that shows it’s use early on in the game as well as ‘supposed’ end game. Supposed because I haven’t reached there yet. Keep in mind that it’s important to keep the Acropolis in range of the garrison or else you will not be able to see the benefit of this wonder. Stonehenge: Stonehenge gives you bonus gold every time you collect from caravans and boosts the road bonus by 100%. This is a fairly decent perk because the road bonus you’ll receive is pretty substantial. What makes it preferable over the Pyramids is the fact that farms/hams don’t play any part into roads. This is a perk that you could tentatively take to end game and see returns. Whether it’s better than Acropolis is for you to decide. Hanging Gardens: Hanging Gardens increases the amount of gold/ham you get from farming/mining your fruit trees/gold mines/ It also increases the frequency that you can gather. It reduces the collection time by 50% (ffffaaaaart) regeneration by 20% and amount by 20%. The collection time is really ridiculous, because it’s like 20 seconds by itself. The increase to regen knocks it to 40 minutes or something between harvest and 20% increase in revenue is ok. Not really recommended as a whole because this should be a very small part of your revenue. Classical Age Notre Dame: Notre Dame reduces the library and blacksmith upgrade costs (not the buildings but the items you can choose to upgrade) by 10% and gives 5,000 gold every day. Supposedly that flat gold amount goes up by +5k every age. I’m not too sure on this yet, but that’s what my data points to. Decent perk if you really need it but there are others to consider. Can’t be attacked which is still kind of stupid but whatever floats the boat. Terra Cotta Army: This wonder allows you to summon the Terra Cotta Army once a day and increases the health of nearby Castles and Barracks. I’ve never seen the Terra Cotta in action so I can’t comment on how effective it is. Like Acropolis, you will have to keep the wonder in range of the applicable buildings to get most out of the bonus. Forbidden City: Possibly the place where goons go to die filled with cheetos, mountain dew, fedoras and passive aggressive law enforcement. Perks allow it to act as a second town hall to make it more difficult to get a victory. Sounds stupid, might be stupid, didn’t pick it. Colosseum: Where hope goes to die, also filled with half naked men. It gives your troops a buff once a day (to be added later on percentages) as well as producing defenders like a garrison. Unsure if Acropolis and Colosseum stack but it seems like they would. Out of all the other wonders it seems easiest to choose because of the defensive capability it gives. But feel free to choose something else. Gunpowder Age Angkor Wat Heals nearby defenders, and increases trade good capacity as well as collect a bonus trade good a day. I haven’t been able to test this one out or heard much on it but it seems like a decent perk for the healing of defenders. Bonus trade goods can also be a boon if you are wanting the extra stuff. Taj Mahal This will increase the health of nearby defensive buildings, and that’s it. Nothing special. Versailles This wonder will slow down nearby invading armies and give your on defending troops a health boost. It actually sounds like this might be the choice for this age considering the other options. I’m going to be picking this one when I get to this age. If used right it could be a fairly decent advantage. Also a sperg palace for spergs. Temple of Tikal Increases health of nearby Mills, Markets, Storehouses, and Vaults. FAAAART Nations: It’s the second part of the title, so naturally something had to come out of it. As soon as you get to the bronze age, you need to pick a nation. You have several choices, each with their own perks and disadvantages. All nations all get a special unique unit to call their own. Once you choose a nation, you cannot renege. They said that might add in an option to change it later. I think it would be great, but undoubtedly it will cost Until then- You’ll have a hard time getting trophies with this nation (World Cup is never coming home!). Seriously though, they are a decently well rounded. Nation powers equate to getting more loot from enemies, which is typical of the British Empire. The unique unit is Longbowman, which gives a longer range to your archers. Choose British IF You raid a lot. Don’t Choose British IF You are looking for any bonuses on defense and do not attack a lot. Famous for walls, and it’s glorious leader General Tso! Your phone was probably made in China too! Nation powers are extra citizens (one, not once per upgrade) and one additional defender from the town center per age upgrade. The unique unit is the Chu Ko Nu which attacks faster than other units. Choose Chinese IF You want an extra citizen to upgrade stuff faster You want extra defenders to help defend yo poo poo You are undecided on which nation to choose and want the best of all worlds. Don’t Choose Chinese IF You literally want to play any other nation. The French language in itself sounds funny, and have a history of being badasses despite America’s biased disdain towards them. They also invented crepes, which are amazing. France is a pretty cool place from what I’ve seen, but I only drove through it. I choked a French soldier out though once during training. So there’s that. Nation powers include quicker army training, which is good if you like to raid a bunch. The unique unit is the Chevalier which is kind of like a car except it’s a horse with a lot of extra health. Choose the French IF You like Paul Pogba, Zinedine Zidane, or Thierry Henry (Pronounced On-Ree like a proper French person). Like to raid a lot Want a tanky unit to soak up a lot of damage. Don’t Choose the French IF You want a unit with any type of economic benefits. Really cool dudes who won 4 (four) World Cups. Why is that important? Because they beat the poo poo out of Brazil 7-1, in Brazil. It was a dry bumming. If you don’t care about football, they’re history is full of beer. Beautiful delicious beer, and bratwurst. Kind of like Americans with beer and hot dogs. I can go on and on about Germany after living there for 3 years but here: Nation powers include a quicker rally which makes you able to use your rally a lot faster which could tentatively turn the tides of battle. Especially since it’s a speed boost when you use it. However, using rally will have your troops completely ignore everything to get to that point you clicked on. Except for when they don’t. Rally is kinda bugged. Unique unit is a Vandal, which deals a lot more damage than normal troops. Choose Germany IF Want to raid a lot to make use of the Rally perk Support an amazing football/soccer nation Don’t Choose Germany IF You want any type of economical boost or defending capability You are one of those ‘Nazi holocaust durrr durrr durrr’ idiots These guys just tried to tell Germany that they owed them something like 300 billion Euro or whatever for reparations. They also have a long history of being assholes to other nations sometimes. Their food is pretty good, except Ouzo. That’s like drinking black licorice, which is fine, but don’t get drunk on it. Pretty place though. Nation powers mean these guys excel at architecture so buildings cost less in resources and time. Their unique unit is the companion, that has a lot of health and does a lot damage. Choose Greek IF You want emphasis on economy and build a lot You want one of the arguably best troop in the game Don’t Choose Greek IF The lack of defensive capability makes you shy You don’t like Greek food Seriously one of the best countries in the world in terms of how things are structured. You can live off of vending machines there. Seriously. And it’s not just snacks and candy, it’s like TV dinners and stuff. They also are completely baffled that other nations put soy sauce on rice. They also have weird rules like don’t drink and walk. Super nice people. Nation powers include a shooting town center (do not know if this stacks with Forbidden City) and longer lasting peace treaties. Unique units are Bushi, which is a troop that deals a lot more damage. Choose Japanese IF You want a town center that shoots people, which is a pretty good defensive ability to be honest. You don’t attack much and want to make use of the extra peace treaty time Don’t Choose Japanese IF You want any type of economic bonus. You put soy sauce on your rice These guys are a prominent historical figure and were pretty much party dudes. Italy is home to Rome, which is also home to the Vatican. That’s where the pope lives. He wears a hat. Romans stretched a lot of places though, and moved their capital a lot. Dudes were pretty massive and stuff. Nation powers give you more troops. Easily a great perk to choose. The unit is also called Legion which is a troop with a lot more health. Choose Romans IF You want the boost to camps that give you extra troops Don’t Choose Romans IF You want any type of economic or defensive bonuses Troops Troops depend ultimately on your nation as some get replaced with a few others. There are some basics though. Some things won’t change and they will evolve based on what you upgrade it to. I’ll list the basics Typical Ground Troop - Typical Ranged - Loot Hound - Tank Type - Wall Miners - Ballista - Supply Cart - Mercenaries Mercenaries are available at different levels. Listed below are the levels of each camp and the troops you will be able to hire as you begin to unlock them. Level 1 Nubian Archers Level 2 Assyrian Horse Raider Hittite Warrior Level 3 Assyrian Horse Raider Hittite Warrior Greek Javelineer Persian Heavy Cavalry Level 4 Hun Warrior Steppe Horse Raider War Elephant Level 5 Chinese Hand Cannon Templar Knight Level 6 Condottieri Raider Mahout Ronin Level 7 Hessian Cavalry Tercio FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT Each fight is three minutes long. When you start a fight (undoubtedly clicking next a million times) you can choose where you want to drop your troops. You can only drop your troops on an area that isn’t ‘covered’ by a building as annotated by a translucent field right by the buildings. Fighting gets you trophies which will put you in a league. More on that below. Each fight gives you a possible five stars. You will get a star for killing the town hall, 50% damage, 75%,100% damage, and “quick kill” (under 1 minute for a town center kill, 50%). So essentially the only way to five star a base is to kill something super quick. Keep in mind, that unlike CoC, you will keep all of your troops so there is no need to hold back, but this will only happen if you kill all defensive buildings. If you disconnect, stop the battle early or whatever and don’t kill every. last. defensive structure; you will lose all of your troops. Also, you will be able to call in help in the forms of mercenaries and your alliance troops. These will not be returned to your camps at the end, so they are a use and lose. Rally is a boost that you give your troops that can be used every thirty seconds or so depending on your nation. Doing so will give your troops a speed boost and cause them to focus on the rally point. This is slightly buggy though as your troops will completely ignore the troops and stuff shooting at them to get to your point. Use this with that in mind. Mix and match your attacks, find out what works for you. Use rally to focus in on defensive structures. Leagues: Bonuses are given daily for simply being in a league. You get to choose though, gold, hams or trade goods. These can be collected at the docks in the south of your village. Holy poo poo I didn't think the scrolling would ever end. That's quite an OP for a poop game. The first goon clan, Goon Privilege is nearly full. It costs 50k gold to start one if anyone wants to start another.

Soulex posted:Choose Romans IF Romans also get a good unique unit: Legion Heavy Legion troops cost 110, have 423 hitpoint, 124 dps (31 against infantry). Their health boost makes them much less vulnerable to catapaults. They excel at zerging buildings. There's no need to bring twenty archers to manage garrisons and stables if they're the first thing you take out. (You'll still need 10-12 to kill the first wave of defenders.) At the Classical Age, Romans gets 71 troop slots. That's 6 extra slots, or enough to bring an extra Cataphract (Horseman / 4,680 HP Arrow sponge). That's a substantial advantage that will never become useless after you've stopped building. EDIT: Hard cold butter IRSmurf fucked around with this message at 07:39 on Apr 16, 2015 |

On trade goods: Fur comes from hunting bunnies, foxes, and bears; leather comes from deer and boar. Cider comes from harvesting fruit trees. Metal from mining gold. A diamond is gained from a 4 or 5 star victory. All trade goods, except maybe diamonds, can be stolen from other players. Its kept in the storehouse. Destroy it for a chance of getting one. The level one mercenary is Nubian Archers. The level one mercenary falls off your list when you upgrade the mercenary camp to level 3. I assume this trend continues. waffles beyond waffles fucked around with this message at 14:28 on Apr 16, 2015 |

So, I totally overleveled for the state of my army and my defenses by using Next Base to selectively attack the easy targets. I was in early-mid Classical, development-wise, but I got to 500+ medals and was both starting to hit built-up Medieval bases and get scorched-earth level raided by scary-rear end Medieval armies in return. I imagine things would have eventually leveled out after a week or so of getting my poo poo pushed in both offensively and defensively, but I decided I'd rather do something else. So I deliberately lost a bunch of games to get into the 300-400 range. Here's how you do it: Start a battle, send out a single soldier, end the battle. You don't get negative medals unless you sacrifice someone. The rest of the troops that you have in your army but don't send out will be just fine. If there's a big, scary base with all the defensive poo poo clumped together, but something raidable on the outskirts, I enjoy plopping a soldier or two and just letting it take what it can before it dies.

You don't have to deploy any troops. But you do have to wait for the timer to run out at the start of the battle then. So your method might be faster, but will cost a nominal amount of food.

Now I can't actually confirm that I did lose them. I'll try it again and report back. E: Yup, I was correct. I started with 624. Waited for the gong, hit end battle, lost 16 trophies. I find farming just fine at that range. There are medieval bases with full collectors. I will lose my whole army, or most of it. But for a combined 180k loot, its worth it. Depends on stuff like road and caravan locations. I even 4 starred a medieval base, but only had a handful of troops left. Its just a preference. Constantly rolling iron ages can work too. waffles beyond waffles fucked around with this message at 19:45 on Apr 17, 2015 |

Just tried it again. Started at 333. Then quit at the start. Showed -16 medals, down to 303. Then, like fifteen seconds later, after I took a look at the army screen, it changed back to 333. EDIT: Did it two more times in a row. No window switching required, number changed back on the count of six. If you sacrifice someone, the number drops and stays dropped. As a bonus, here's a picture of my base: I've been told it makes people with base planning OCD want to kill themselves. Good. Megazver fucked around with this message at 20:40 on Apr 17, 2015 |

I poop a lot, so I need games to distract me from my bowel movements.
