Have you any idea how much effort that would take, and then to go back and edit all the previous posts too?

To this day, I don't understand why they showed this. Never happens in the manga and I struggle to imagine how you'd write it in a novel.

I love how it's depicted, whenever dialogue has to "lay pipe" in Haruhi they always come up with fun visual tricks to break up the tedium, and the mole it's totally one of those things you notice about someone and zero in on during a conversation, but someone like Koizumu wouldn't let it break his stride. Also he probably trims his mole hairs regularly and is feeling that friendly condescension toward Kyon we sense throughout the series.

When you're in a town like this all covered with smoke, you forget that there's a world outside. Nothing amazing happens here. And you get used to that, used to a world where everything is ordinary. Every day we spend here is like a whole lifetime of dying slowly.

Probably because over there, "bike" is short for "autobike" (motorcycle) instead of "bicycle". The translator felt this warranted an explanation in the subtitles, just as I felt it warranted an explanation in this thread :smith:

Then you just put "bicycle" instead of "bike"?

There's a tendency, when a character says a loanword, to put it in the translation. It often doesn't make sense, of course, due to loanwords often having quite different meanings - "style" and "mansion" come to mind - but that's the thinking. So, one hears Natsume's friend say "bike" and puts that in the subtitle, with a note if one is British or whatever.

Yeah, it's dumb.
