rewatching the Azira red, it looks like it was for a stomp, not an elbow. If it was for the elbow, then that's the worst red ever. It looks like he stomps the back of Fernandez's ankle and Fernandez makes the most of it. Was Azira already on a yellow? edit: doesn't look like it. Ahh man, that match had it all. A derby cup game between two of the best crowds and atmospheres in U.S. soccer that regularly sell out 20k and 40k capacity stadiums, that's instead played at Starfire with a capacity of 4k. Kit swap for the Sounders at half-time because apparently no one before the game could figure out that black and dark green clash. No TV coverage, just a lovely stream that made it even harder to tell which team was which in the first half. A solo radio commentator that couldn't tell the difference between players with similar haircuts and kept getting poo poo wrong, but he managed to make fun of the referees haircut AND foreshadow the poo poo-show to come. Then a few decent goals by cool and good players, and then the meltdowns, injury to obafemi minutes after using their last sub, clint dempsey being an rear end, and police escorts for the refs. I hope Martins is ok though, injuries blow. From news reports it looks like it was a groin/adductor thing. Must have been pretty drat severe to warrant getting a trip in an ambulance and an MRI afterwards.
