We weren't allowed to piss in bottles but I could fill a 2 gallon jug in 3 days.

Technically speaking if we are only talking in theoretical terms you would piss the same amount in a day in a jug as you would a toilet.

It's pretty boring for most of the time. The real action comes when you have to figure out how to get 500 miles to your delivery when there's a snow storm along the route. You also have to play duck, duck, goose with other drivers in order to be able to park in the truck stop.

i feel like the worst part of being a truck driver would be when you get into some poorly constructed road area and you are trying to maneuver a huge truck in such a way that you can back it up just right into the loading dock while inconveniencing everyone around you

I didn't have a cb radio. Most truckers don't have them now-a-days.

You would be absolutely right. Have you driven a truck before? Finding your delivery is absolutely, positively, the worst part of being a trucker. Your GPS is useless when it comes to city streets, and (surprisingly) most consignees don't actually have the adequate space for a 53' vehicle.

I kind of wish I would have stayed with the company, but it is such a difficult job. You're responsible for driving a gigantic vehicle through heavy traffic/weather and, oh, btw, you need to get there on time or else you just lost your bonus.

The cb radio kind of died with the advent of the internet and smart phones. They're still kind of useful if you're in a traffic jam and you need to figure out what's going on up ahead.

There are a lot of laws governing how much a truck driver should rest. I personally don't think they're good enough, but there are a lot of truckers that disagree with me.

Truckers are actually really great people. I've had many old-timers give me tips on how to be a better trucker. I've had other truckers give me free shower tickets. If you have trouble backing up into a tight spot you can just jump out and ask another trucker for help and he/she will be more than willing to help. Truckers get a bad rap, but they really do take care of their own.
