 Welcome one and all to the magical realm of Grand Theft Auto V modding. Here you will find tools and mods with which to enhance your single-player experience, widen your options in Director Mode, and otherwise gently caress with the game beyond its original scope. First of all, you will need a mod manager. You could just dump the mod files in the game folder, but then you'll run the risk of getting banned if you load Online by accident and Rockstar detects that you're trying to alter original files. Given the prevalence of hackers in GTA:O, you can be pretty sure there's a non-zero chance of that happening. Anyway, I recommend: GTA V Mod Manager This is a standalone application that you can place anywhere. It has some very neat quality of life features, such as auto-detecting mods, using symlinks to mirror files, starting the RSC launcher in offline mode, blocking online access for the game in Windows Firewall, enabling High Priority Mode for the .exe, and launching Online with everything disabled. Set it up as follows:  Now browse to the designated mod folder—default is Documents\GTAV Mods—and simply start adding mods. Delete the empty scripts folder if it exists to avoid confusion. Create a new folder for each mod and dump its files there, making sure to keep the folder structure intact; imagine each separate mod folder as the root game folder. For ASI mods you can simply place the .asi and .ini/.xml (if any) in the same folder, .NET and LUA mods go in subfolders named scripts and scripts\addins respectively, and of course require the .NET and LUA plugins in addition to ScriptHookV. You can use the same process to add ReShade, SweetFX and/or ENB presets and DLLs. When you're done, hit Reload in the mod manager and they should show up. If the mod came with a configuration file, make sure the program has recognised it by selecting the mod and looking at the window to the right. If not, use the Attach Config button. This is what mine looks like:  Next up, you'll need: ScriptHookV Pretty much everything is dependent on this in one way or another. Browse to bin in the archive and dump the contents in your newly created ScriptHookV folder (not a bin subfolder). You can discard the Native Trainer as there are better ones out there, like Enhanced Native Trainer or PC Trainer V, allowing you to spawn cars or bodyguards, change and modify the player model into almost anything, play animations and sound clips, etc. Now, RPF modding is a little more complicated. This will allow you to modify textures, models, car handling, weapon stats, NPC behavior, spawn tables, weather and everything else, but it involves altering original files, so be sure to make backups and copy the RPF archives elsewhere before you modify them. For this you will need: OpenIV For some reason this will only install to a specific location. To use modified RPFs, you'll need to install OpenIV.asi as a mod. It can be found in Users\Username\AppData\Local\New Technology Studio\Apps\OpenIV\Games\Five\x64. To edit an RPF, first make a backup and then move another copy elsewhere, open the copy with OpenIV and enable Edit Mode. Drag and drop the mod files in the correct folders and hit Rebuild. Now go to the mod manager, click Import Modded RPF, choose the modded RPF, then the original in the game folder and finally give it an appropriate name. Note that many mods alter the Update.rpf, so whenever the game updates you'll have to redo the process, otherwise the game won't launch. Head on over to GTA5-Mods.com and start downloading some poo poo. Have fun! How to increase traffic and pedestrian density and variety: Browse to Documents\Rockstar Games\GTA V\settings.xml and change: CityDensity value="1.000000" PedVarietyMultiplier value="1.000000" VehicleVarietyMultiplier value="1.000000" The first one should not be increased beyond 1.4 and will obviously require a lot more processing power. The latter can safely be increased to 10.0. How to unlock exclusive console transfer DLC content: Download this.  Read the instructions carefully! Depending on the preset, you may need just ReShade or the one packaged with SweetFX. Changed the Persistence Mod to another one that will make the game not despawn the last 16 or 32 vehicles you entered. Also added the Ragdoll Mod.

Good call on making this thread, it's a notable topic that gets buried in the other two threads. Maybe put the current status of Rockstar banning for mods in the OP? i.e. Right now the jury still seems to be out, but eventually we should know which mods will put you at risk and which will be safe.

If anyone in here is actually trying to do their own script/mod editing, please let us know. I'm sure I'm one of dozens of people with ideas and suggestions but what'd be even better is if I could ask someone whether my idea or suggestion is even worth suggesting. That said, thank you so much to SplitSoul for creating this thread so I don't have to constantly double check the normal thread every other hour.  VVV: Yeah I meant it more in a "should I ask in other communities" kind of way. I don't want to bother anyone doing work here but I'll gladly bother randos on other sites. That said, I'm super curious if it's possible to just tweak how fast the time-of-day moves. I want to do time lapse video in director mode and even if it was just as simple as "sun goes up and down" it'd be good enough for what I want to do. Been checking out Szabos Persistence Mod and its a bit more full featured as far as persistent cars go. Currently the mod makes the last 3 vehicles persistent, but this is a value that can be easily edited. It also allows you to save as many vehicles as you want on the map, effectively creating a garage anywhere you want. It's also worth noting that certain missions that require certain cars won't work with any of the persistent car mods working, but this mod has a button that temporarily disables that feature so you can go about your bidness. It even has minimap blips for your persistent and saved cars.

There have been a few others that have said basically the same thing. Screen shots of emails from Rockstar. They're most likely trolls at this point. If a wave of bans had happened there would be much more chatter about it.

Well it was because my friend installed the FoV mod then got banned but then they said to uninstall it and they'll unban him and then they just unbanned him anyway and he still uses it so I don't know they're probably thinking about how to deal with it at the moment.
