So one of the things that I didn't do well is maintain eye contact when out an about. I've been testing it out, maintaining eye contact with people as I walk by and it's been interesting to see how people react. Most people will look at you then glance away quickly, this is what I used to do, others won't look at you at all and a few will give recognition. People that maintain eye contact back I generally give a small head nod and a 'morning' response, which I'll tend to only get from older men. Keep in mind I am maintaining a pleasant face as well, I'm not putting forth a hostile attitude. Think more of strolling through a small town and seeing neighbors etc. It's been an interesting study in how it makes me feel as an individual. I feel more connected to my neighborhood for starters, I am starting to recognize more people than just the homeless guys and my interactions with them are increasing. I'm a friendly and gregarious person by nature so this isn't overly difficult and I find the reactions I get are friendly and nice in turn. I'm not staring at people either for the record, eye contact is maintained until either they turn away or a greeting is passed. If you haven't tried it, it is worth doing and it's a small thing to implement with some quick returns to your self-confidence. Remember, not hostile but pleasant faced and confident.

She understands, and backs off the propositioning, though I still occasionally get a text asking if I'll take her with me out of town sometime. Today, I get a call from her following up on some of the previous advice. She's moved out and started a divorce proceeding against B, and asks if I can give her the regulation the prohibits me from loving her. Then she makes a point of (correctly) reading that the regulation doesn't prohibit her and I from seeing each other after the matter is concluded. It's completely clear what she thinks will happen - she gets to dump Beta-no-bux and upgrade to me, where she knows she would be plate-status at best. There are two obvious motivators for her behavior - sex and money. She's openly admitted to the first, and basically admitted to the second (she wants to travel and stay in fancy hotels on my business card. And, as a side note, I work in the public sector, so my income is a matter of public record. No idea if she has gone so far as to look it up, but I make more in 3 months than both of them get in a year from student loans.). And for some more interesting background information, she's very religious and openly told me she didn't want to talk to anyone from her church about her lack of sexual fulfillment and desire to get Thundercocked because they'd shame her. So there it is - AWALT - like how? Branch-swinging hypergamists. She's going to have a rude awakening when she finally lets go and realizes the next branch was all in her head... TL;DR - I'm-Not-Like-That Girl attempts to swing to bigger branch, showing yes, AWALT.
