I keep hearing people say how much America cares about those fuckers, but I sure as hell don't and I have never met a single person who does.

I don't think I've ever had, or even overheard, a conversation about them. Where are these mythical royal family loving Americans?

I like those shows where richard Hammon explains science. Or those shows where the nice old man with the soothing voice tells me anything.

BBC is awesome though. Sad the entire thing will probably crash and burn without Top Gear. They are one Attenborough heart attack away from doom.

I mean Sherlock is good sure, but they only make 2 episodes a decade, and I'm pretty sure Dr. Who is some kind of Andy Kaufmanesque experiment in seeing how long a show can go on when it's clear no one could possibly be watching that poo poo let alone enjoying it.

For some reason Americans care when British royalty wear stupid hats.

I dunno.

My favourite is the one by Steven Moffat about a super smart good looking guy who fixes everything by being a genius and all the ladies love him and he's the best in the world at stuff but tragically he just can't get along with neurotypicals because he's so much better than them.

Incidentally have you ever heard Steve talk about himself

How's the David Attenborough death pool going? I give him another 2 years, tops.

american celebrity gossip magazines and TV like People and E! basically classify (and cover) the brit royals as celebrities on the same level as Hollywood stars, and american middle-class housewife culture is addicted to celebrity 'news' for some misanthropy-provoking reason

however, ask their husbands about the royals, and they might remember that one's named Harry, and that'll be about it

honestly it's not how it used to be, american shows are far better these days e.g. fargo, the walking dead, breaking bad, true detective, even american comedy has surpassed it we've had practically nothing good and new come out but you've given us shows like community and it's always sunny

i want my bbc license fee back

American TV mostly learned that less episodes = less filler bullshit and more money spent on the good parts, now that syndication isn't as big a deal. Walking Dead got way shittier when they increased the number of episodes, for example. Given the extra money America throws at stuff, 13 episode seasons (unlike the BBC's 6) seems like a sweet spot.

Also how can you list Breaking Bad but not Better Call Saul? That show owns pretty drat close to as hard as Breaking Bad did, and arguably outshine's Bad's first season. Someone should give you a Chicago Sunroof.

This right here

Modern-day Doctor Who under Moffat is basically Young Moffat, now occupying a grown-up's body, doing everything he can to lord it over all the bullies who picked on him and called him "nerd" back when he looked like this

He is achieving this by making the Doctor all hip and cool and just generally making the show one big ol' :smug:-fest that is hugely popular and yet paradoxically also completely unbearable to watch

I sorta assume anyone who's really into top gear is a 35-65 man who is somewhat racist but not enough to join the bnp just like might casually bring up immigration as a negative and it doesn't even seem like england anymore, use of the word paki maybe 50/50
