Watch anything by Studio Ghibli, I think it’s only anime by technicality

Definitely watch Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure… every week is like the most INSANE sports-entertainment standoff(excuse the pun), except you’ll never see poo poo this HYPE on Monday Night RAW

I doubt you've heard of this little title…”Legend of the Galactic Heroes” Well sir, you should def watch it, especially if you could enjoy Game of Thrones…..AND Star wars! (don’t watch next ep previews (contains spoliers), start with movies 1+2, keep at it for at least 30 eps, laser disc rips preferred)

Death Parade is like if you took the humour, puzzles and Mexican culture out of Grim Fandango

If emotional stories about personal discovery (in space) is your bag, then Planetes (translates as wanderers) should hit the mark. It’s like Interstellar done by Studio Ghibli.

I think Neon Genesis Evangelion is a worthwhile watch, because it’s a cross-between the epic monster-punch marathon movie Pacific Rim and the cult classic Pi

Turn-A Gundam is also like Game of Thrones, but this time with a Transformers twist. though actually now I think about it the transformers don’t talk or even transform but anyway its good poo poo

Movie suggestion here: Patema Inverted is recent and has a really good blu-rei release. It’s like Studio Ghibli meets VVVVVV

Remember Charlies Angels? Also remember oldies like Tora! Tora! Tora! Welp, it’s time for you to watch Kancoelle-poi

You should check out Gurren Lagann. It’s like Evangelion on crack! But also way more chill. The second season is on steroids though!! “There are some things I just have to see!”!

Uhmm…. Watch Chihayafuru :D

If you like cringe comedy, then Watamote blends the excellent George Michael scenes from Arrested development with Your Own Personal Awkward Phase!

The Melancholy Of Haruhi Suzumiya (Haruhi Suzumiya No Yuutsu) is a Staggering Work of Incredible Genius, and assuming you enjoyed Groundhog Day, you will love Haruhi because it’s like that but 50% longer but with highschool girls instead of Andie MacDowell

Do you think you are going to enjoy the upcoming hollywood blockbuster Ghost in the Shell? If so, it’s probably a good idea to check out Ghost in the Shell, where Blade Runner and Minority Report collide, there’s also boobs

Lupin III: Castle of Cognition = The Pink Panther movies + Studio Ghibli = a real wild ride

Ping Pong the Animation [mod edit: 300 gifs removed from post, if you do this again i will destroy you]

How abouit a sketch show? Daily Lives of Highschool Boys is a winning combo of BBC sitcom The Inbetweeners and uh... Studio Ghibli??

Steins;Gate... more like Doc;Brown! It’s got fun & wacky BttF time-travelling antics, along with some DaVinci Code style conspiracy plots! Warning: contains multiple references to 2ch, the japanese 4chan

Cowboy bebbop is literally firefly

like pirates and ninjas? If you do and you also enjoyed the previous suggestion then, Samurai Champloo. Also watch this if you like Studio Ghibli

My Neighbour Totoro disney plus Studio ghibli

k-on. studio ghibli.

MeinGott
A very mellow, very chill show about 4 girls starting a high school band through their Light Music Club. No conflict, no problems, no giant mechas destroying the town. Just sweets, tea, and light music.
Grashlok
The thing about K-On! is that it's lack of depth is its strong point. Lack of depth is not something you could normally attribute positively, but it works so well in the series. K-On! follows a group of friends going through everyday life. It's not meant to be dramatic. It's not meant to be anything profound. But that's why it's so good. It has a great flow of comedy, and, if you've ever hung out with a group of friends, then I'm sure you can appreciate the humor in the show.
K-On! just shows those special times in friendship and it does that really well.

Monster is a fantastic psychological thriller about a doctor trying to kill serial killer whose life he saved when he was younger. If it was live action it wouldn't look out of place on network tv.

Clanpot Shake
This is a long series, weighing in at 74 episodes, which is a bit too hefty for my tastes. That said, I did enjoy this series. The story is engaging and realistic. It's a nice break from giant robots fighting each other in space with rape tentacles.
The show often tries to feel suspenseful or frightening, but feels insincere at times. The final episode was genuinely frightening, and there were a few good moments here and there, but overall I watched it because I wanted to know what happened. Character development is top notch, as is the story.
Overall, this is a good series in a genre that doesn't have enough representatives. If you have the time, I recommend it.

The_White_Crane
This came highly recommended as an excellent psychological thriller, and I can't say that it failed in that regard. The story compelling and suspenseful, and I found that my sympathies shifted throughout the series. However, I felt that it would have been significantly improved if it were about a dozen episodes shorter.
There was nothing I would call filler, but there were quite often episodes which spent a fairly large proportion of their time rehashing things you'd already seen. While I can imagine this being useful if you were watching it at a one-episode-per week pace, I found that it caused the series to become wearing after a while.
On the whole, I recommend watching it if you have any interest in the premise, but there may be times when you would be best off skimming through half an episode or so.

First, the art style of the anime and its direction may not be for some. It's hard to describe other than just saying "artsy", which doesn't do it justice. The first episode, I felt, was especially off putting simply because of how fast many of the characters spoke and how fast the art in the anime was moving. It wasn't so much as overwhelming as it was just different.
While it might be Groundhog Day-esque, it isn't a copy of the movie by any means. Nor is it a play on the same day-to-day routine the film had.
The Tatami Galaxy is first and foremost a story about growing. Every character in this anime are as dynamic as ever. It really is a treat to see all the different characters in myriad situations that they may or may not have gotten themselves into the first time around. It is also one of the few college anime out there and, even if you've never been to college, it has something for you if you've ever looked to pave a new foundation for the rest of your life.
The drama is light and the anime is very feel-good leaving you satisfied. Overall, it's just a good watch. I would recommend it to anyone.

Grenadier
Really loving good show with a debatably trying story-telling hook. Since the protag doesn't really remember the loops his growth as a character is incremental as the show goes on. But with a mercifully short episode count and extremely clever attention to detail coupled with an exciting or amusing new outcome almost every episode, it really worked well for me. The catharsis of the ending is also nearly on par with that of Mind Game, which is no faint praise.

House Louse
This might seem like a sitcom at first. There are running jokes, elements that repeat every episode, and a tightly interwoven cast of oddballs. The direction is as energetic as Looney Tunes and mixes stylised animation with some photographed backgrounds. It's got crossdressing, mistaken identities, and anime exaggeration.
That's partly true. But it's also an exploration of how to live and why, a condemnation of some ways people choose to live, sometimes a depressingly bleak chronicle of failure, and ultimately, a story of salvation. None of the characters are one-note jokes, but all are three-dimensional. It's a beautiful, humane series, and the ending is one of the most emotionally satisfying I've ever seen or read.

Chas McGill
Tatami Galaxy was one of the first shows that was recommended to me when I went to the recommendations thread on the forum and asked for something to convince me there was more to anime than suckling the children and manbaby demographics. The recommendation worked, and here I am, making a comment on ADTRW. First off, I love how Tatami Galaxy looks. Carefully chosen palettes, vibrant character designs, a lovely mixture of clean lines, chaotic detail, and photographic backgrounds. Second, I appreciate how literate it is. The main character's monologue is constant and verbose, so much so that I had to pause in order to both read what he's saying and take in the detail in the actual picture. He's a whiny dick, maybe more Ignatius Reilly than Holden Caulfield, but that's fine. The Groundhog Day dynamic means that each episode can tackle a different storyline while accommodating a series-long narrative. Recommended if you want something different.

Zorak
Really incredible ride that gets better with each watching.

I downloaded and watched this for one reason.
Original creator: Yoshitoshi Abe. aka 'He Who Did Haibane Renmei'
Lain continues in part Abe's sense of design and progression. The colour tones of the episodes are replicated through out all the episodes and abused in the more surreal. The series takes a very abusive look at itself, refusing to conform to any sort of exterior time line formed by the viewer. Events happens as they are presented, or maybe not. The difference between the real and the surreality is a significant point in this series as it questions the nature of reality.
This whole series is very confusing and is the sort of poo poo you should not defiantly watch when hung over as you'll end up like me, scrambling between philosophical statements trying to work out some kind of middle ground the series is constantly pushing you away from in order to find your own explanation.

SquirrelFarmer
This is one of my favorite series, but it's definitely not for everyone. First and foremost, it is very confusing. The plot itself is quite bizarre, and understanding it is complicated further by the fact that characters lie about the strange events that occur. Secondly, I've heard the pacing called "deliberate," but a more accurate term is "slow." Lain spends a lot of time going about her normal daily routine between bizarre occurrences, and if you demand frequent action, you will HATE this show.
However, if you don't mind a difficult plot and slow pacing, this is a highly artistic, mind-bending series that is a lot of fun to watch.

helopticor
The archetypal trippy confusing psychological show. It's not often clear what's going on, or how much of the things you see actually happen, but that's part of the charm.

Yildun
I loved this series, even though it starts off with a girl committing suicide. It is indeed very slow but if you get caught up in the thoughtfulness it likes to instill, it can be very addictive. It's very bizarre and psychologically gripping. I felt bad for whatever ultimately happened to Lain's "sister" but I loved the very end where Lain saw Alice again. A few warm-fuzzies, horror, revulsion, and sheer awe in one package. The design and imagery of the show is quite amazing too. The almost blank, light-saturated world with the splotchy, intensely angry-looking, bruise-purple shadows hanging out as the telephone poles gently buzz overhead is something I'll never forget.
