Hand Knit posted:Cool note by Craig Button: If Tampa wins the Yzerman will have won 'Triple Gold' as a GM (WHC 07, Olympics 10), which is pretty neat since he only retired in 2006. It's pretty amazing that he's a good gm. I expected him to be a catastrophic failure since he lacked the experience a new gm typically has when they finally get the position. Instead he's been perhaps the best gm in hockey since he got hired.

I wish I was a hockey fan sooner, so I could have watched teemu play more. You don't know what you've got until it's gone. E: That said, I'll feel the same pain when Getzlaf and Perry finally hang them up. Who do you think will retire first?

Getzlaf has enough talent to be a moderately effective, floaty, Alex Kovalev type player when he's 38 so I think he'll last longer. Perry will have a sharper decline when he can't bump his way into the crease anymore.

If they decide to overhaul goalie interference again Corey Perry might just retire then.

I remember Selanne on the Avalanche, but I have zero memory of him every playing for the Sharks. That has been wiped from my brain. Like, I see that it happened thanks to H-R, but it feels like an alternate universe.

fun kariya fact: he retired with exactly 989 points in 989 games. I like that. Although 1000 in 1000 would've been cooler.

Perry will never retire because he's gonna get shivved in the penalty box with a skate blade.

So that was in fact the Ducks that were on the ice tonight, right? Because based on the quality of play I'm pretty sure that wasn't the same team that was in the first six games.
