How exactly are you supposed to rise to management by working full-time starting at 18 at the kind of jobs available to unskilled 18 year-olds (mostly factory, retail and food)? If they need a manager they are going to find someone with management experience and an MBA, not promote a cashier or the guy putting widgets in a box. Old people seem to still be hooked on that mail-room to CEO fantasy.
