Problem description: Periodically (about once every 60-75 minutes), my computer will focus on the desktop without me doing anything which would cause this to happen. I will be using another app or playing a game and suddenly I cannot enter any keyboard commands or mouse clicks in the app I was working with until I select that app again from my task bar. It does not minimize the app (usually) but I can see that my task bar appears if I am in full screen mode while playing a game. It is almost like pressing the Windows key but without the Start menu popping up. This problem has been happening for a couple months and I don't remember what I changed around that time, but I do not believe I made any configuration changes to Windows. It is possible that I installed something which is causing this issue and it is possible that this happened after a Windows Update but I cannot be certain. I know that this is very little information to work with and I apologize for that but I don't know what else to say that might be relevant so please feel free to ask for anything that you might need to assist me with this problem.
Attempted fixes: Virus checks. Ran CCleaner. Looked at some event logs right after the issue happened to see if I could hone in on the problem. Uninstalled some programs which I no longer use.
Recent changes: No system changes that I recall but something had to have changed since this problem was not happening before and I do not think that it is a hardware failure.

Intel i5 2500k CPU
16GB Corsair memory
Nvidia GTX 670
SSD SAMSUNG 840 EVO MZ-7TE250BW 2.5" 250GB
1GB WD hard drive
3GB WD hard drive.
I am not at home at the time of this post so I don't recall my other specifics such as motherboard model or power supply. If those are needed please let me know and I will update this post asap.

It's almost definitely a program/process stealing focus. Run MSCONFIG and disable everything in startup if possible. If that stops it, turn them back on selectively until you find your culprit.

I am disabling a number of things in msconfig as well. Just need to play with my PC for a while to see if the symptoms persist. Any guidance based on that log file is appreciated.

I'd uninstall Java unless you absolutely need it for something.
You might want to disable Plex from starting up for awhile as well.
