I like to play dubstep really loudly and the bass washes over you, its cool. But I accept that I am a weirdo for listening to things like this outside of a club/concert setting.

It seems "modern music" is moving to a more hip-hop with techno infused sounding beats and as some one born in 87 I don't hate it. Pump Up the Jam and Push It were two of the first CD's I listened to so maybe that has something to it. I don't necessarily think its the end all be all of musical talent either but a lot of "today's" music is just fun as hell to listen to. I don't need earth shattering lyrics or rifts that would make the most talented musician struggle to play. I'm probably just a boob though.
