'alpha' and 'beta' social order roles exist inarguably in another hominid species that is genetically 98.8% identical to homo sapiens, and in another apex-predator species that's extraordinary for its domesticated social compatibility with humans. these are just facts

"hi I watched a lot of animal planet and let me tell you all about social hierarchies"

alpha/beta doesn't apply to wolves and it is super simplified as applied to apes.

quote:

This terminology was first used in 1947 by Rudolf Schenkel of the University of Basel, who based his findings on researching the behavior of captive gray wolves. He formally disavowed this terminology in 1999, explaining that it was heavily based on the behavior of captive packs consisting of unrelated individuals, an error reflecting the once prevailing view that wild pack formation occurred in winter among independent gray wolves. Later research on wild gray wolves revealed that the pack is usually a family consisting of a breeding pair and its offspring of the previous 1–3 years.

i'm just some layman rear end in a top hat not exactly informed up to the minute on recent zoology, but i watched some nat geo doc about a non-captive, wild wolf-pack that was studied by a couple for a decade or something

all the social order roles were clearly apparent, including the omega

found it, i think. looks like a late 90s or early 00s production

hey, but you're missing something essential here

we humans using the social labels of 'alpha', 'beta', et cetera are also using them in the context of interaction between unrelated individuals

Alpha and Beta are meaningless terms for humans. They mean something for dogs and wolves, but not for people. More often than not, "Alpha Males" are far more insecure than "Beta Males". They are not terms that should be used when describing people.

Actually social roles give structure to our lives and help us to define ourselves as individuals and how we fit into society as a whole. They are a natural instinct and to some degree necessary for a healthy psyche.

I didn't say I didn't follow any norms. I just follow them not because they are imposed by society, but because it's right to follow them. Again, just reminding you why my term of choice is meta male.

yeah it's bullshit, there's been a rash of papers about it recently and biologists/animal behaviour specialists have had to rethink their research methodology in order to try not to impose human notions of hierarchy on animals

so the whole thing is based on nonsense and then applied to a different species

I don't think anyone does anything because it is imposed by society except the most weakwilled babies I guess, but people do a lot of things because they haven't thought about why they do them.

I'd like the term "alpha male jack off" to remain a thing for as long as possible.

For example, I was waiting to get onto the on-ramp, and this alpha male jack off in an escalade is just sitting one lane over with his blinker on. I'm hoping I'll get the chance to look him in the eye and give him the finger, and the car in front of me lets him over.

An alpha male is the sort of man who does not have to offer resources and emotional investment in order to get laid. Women just want to gently caress him, much like men want to gently caress your average woman.

Sexual conquest is simply easier for the alpha male.

A lot of beta males have an ego investment in being beta males so they dismiss the whole alpha/beta dichotomy lest they face their inferiority to alpha males and come to deal with the fact that their women probably had alpha cock in the past and possibly still lust for it.

lol the red pill = painful

become alpha male then embrace glorious feminism and treat the women in your life with utmost respect, dignity, and mindfulness

Alphas have been the primary objects of female desire for the past 3 million years so we're definitely overdue for a paradigm shift. It could happen any day now!
