Like a job where you just do the same repetitive motion over and over all day for 8 hours? Do you just go into the interview, and you demonstrate that you can make those motions over and over?

They basically make you fill out a little application/questionnaire to make sure you can follow directions, then they ask you if you have any previous factory experience, and if you say no, they don't hire you.

How did they cope with having a job like that? i couldn't take it for too long. i didn't do more than a couple months at either job because it felt like my soul was being sucked away. the fish job had lax management and too many temps to keep track of, so some days I'd just leave for hours and come back to punch in at the end of the shift virtually all of my co-workers were felons or recent immigrants, so they didn't have the luxury of failing to cope like i did. many of the dumber ones didn't seem too bothered by the work, though

When I was a student, I used to have a job in the summer in a factory that produced oil barrels. The work was mind numbly boring. Place lid on barrel, repeat 600 times. And that's your first hour. Now repeat that 8 times. There were guys there complaining that in another factory, you just had to sit on a chair for 8 hours. Occasionaly someone would come and check if you were still awake. That sounded like a dream job for those guys. When I told them that would be boring as gently caress, I was met with blank stares.

Some times you clean stuff or are helpful to the engineers, but this is rare. depending on your union you can also fall asleep at work.
