TFC Any other answer is loving wrong, especially Counterstrike, which was and still is for spackers that don't have the dexterity for TFC.

Natural Selection was easily the most creative and extensive mod of HL1, it had a great dedicated community and was loving amazingly fun to play in its prime. It was this brilliant combination of RTS and FPS that was just so incredibly satisfying to play. Games could go on for hours on these beautiful atmospheric maps littered with player built mini-forts and ambush locations. I put more hours into NS than any other game and was actually into playing in CAL which i've never done in anything else. Their odd co+classic hybrid wasn't really fun either (and I loved both combat and classic). It's specially not worth playing right since there's probably like 40 people still left playing. It really dropped off fast. Day of defeat was good too--too bad dod:s sucked but hopefully someone will make a new DoD like CS:GO happened. the specialists was a later mod so it was incredibly polished. it was essentially action half life: the sequel. it pushed the limits of what the HL1 engine could do in a surprisingly multiplayer friendly way the multiplayer slowmo for instance was pretty much perfect
