I recently expressed the above opinion to irl coworkers of mine and their response was to unironically defend Trump, going so far as to declare that he is, in fact, a decent and even admirable human being (primarily by virtue of being a successful businessman). I would have thought the assertion that Donald Trump is a sleazy cretin would be relatively uncontroversial and the recent dispute has left me somewhat shaken. I wanna get GBS's take on the Trump, just to make sure that I have not somehow been transported to a bizarre alternate world where he is not a quivering mass of human poo poo.

Most people are so afraid of confrontation in their daily lives that they would rather say he is a good guy than risk starting some real discussion by engaging in conversation with another human being about an idea they are not 100% positive about.

someone on my facebook posted a pro-trump thingy so i unfriended them the dude is a fucken joke his rating by people is 95% unfavorable 5% favorable even in his core demographic (rich republicans) he is like the 5th or 6th candidate at best and stands literally zero hope of moving swing voters or democrats (especially minorities) he will get poor white trash to vote for him but there arent quite enough of those to win the day

One was already at risk for being a birther but I thought it was an isolated lapse of judgment.
