if you do well at a serving job, your weekly paycheck should be $0.00. this means that your reported tips pushed your wage up so high that the $2.13 your employer is legally required to pay you was completely consumed by taxes. if you actually get money back, this means that your tip average was so low that the employer had to pay you the state minimum wage, which can be as low as $7.50
