If you are on the fence, this game is really good. The devs had a questionably P2W mechanic in the winter alpha and based on player feed back, it got completely removed. Is it worth 50 dollars to get into the summer alpha? That's up to you, but it's going to be fun and we'd like you to come.

Personal shoutout again to a special someone (you know who you are ;)) for giving me a free 50$ account for this game.

this alpha, t4 self sufficiency will be fairly easy to accomplish. after release i think t5 will be the standard with tryhards going to t6 self reliance. t7 and t8 will be guild and alliance efforts.

The last alpha was six weeks of solid fun killing people and taking their loot. If you are on the fence, this game should full release (and be f2p) probably summer 2016? Probably sooner. We started late last alpha and had a ball. This time, we've got a competent plan and are starting at the beginning. :getin: Check the OP and read the offsite forum or be in mumble when the servers are up for our plans.

i understand and support the reasoning behind 5v5. it's so that the game doesn't turn into who has the largest group owning everything. could a different more interesting idea be implemented? maybe, i don't have an answer to what that is.

and no, food upkeep wont be a deterrant to owning everything if you can just blob it. blob all the farms first then everything else.

Make auction houses a skill on the destiny board that levels up by buying and selling items on the AH. As you rank up it allows you to link more auction houses from one location. So at rank 1 you can only buy/sell items for the city you are in. At rank 2 it allows you to buy/sell items at the city you are in plus the next closet auction house. If you level it all the way you can see and list items for all auction houses from one location.

this is a terrible idea, never do this please

one of the biggest appeals of this game is having to transport items around. there should never be global banks, ah or item mailing to circumvent any of that.

I feel like this could be lessened if guild territories werent available from day 1, necessitating the land rush (as we found out) if we had time to get cash engines running and farming setup maybe this would be better

i think it was worth the effort to grab the territory early. rushing as a group into red zones as t3 warriors from grinding starter zones would have been the best plan to grind silver. yes, we lagged behind the toppest of tier guilds due to the food slog. but now we know :sun:

Yes we have that in mind and want to add it to the towers of the territories.

Regarding the sandbox aspects. It has always been a design goal that numbers matter less in Albion Online then for instance EVE. We will (very likely) however add new areas to the game where numbers will matter and some most of these mechanics will be disabled! (Please watch my wording "matter less". Strength in numbers is always good; Go Warriors!)

there's only 1 aspect of the game where numbers don't matter. goons will ofc chafe about it, it's what we do. tbh its not a big deal at all.

You can already do this but opening your town and setting up taxes on the crafting stations, full scale renting or having guilds be vassalized to you is eh mechanically alot of effort for something you can do ingame right now by extolling a tax or we come wreck your town kinda deal.

plus as seen by brink they are open to large 20v20 for instance battles but if you open it wholesale it will just become a dogpile with an interface less suited to it than frankly any game. Imagine trying to actually do anything with 100 dudes on the screen its nearly impossible to tell whats happening when we go to fight paradox with 20 guys.

the game as it stands as on overhead view non collision based pseudo uo clone is simply not suited to large battles at all. But it is suited to large groups of people with shared interests and goals working together together to crush a group.

you will never ever beat the intrinsic issue that if you take of limit caps and take out the pretty interesting gvg fights you end up with n+1 always being better no matter what tactics you use, we have seen this in literally every game goons have played.

now thats not saying 5v5 for small territories and 50v50 or something for large ones wouldnt be awesome but a whole sale drop of the instanced fight mechanic would be awful as the game stands now.

koshka is right imo

Word of warning fellas - building crafting/refining stations on your personal island still has a 30% "tax" (cluster use cost) to compensate for not having to pay upkeep. It's certainly not free and not very monetarily sound right now to stack up those stations on your island. If you could pay the upgrade fee with gold it might be, but right now the 5k silver cost from t2-t3 and 9k for t3-t4 just can't beat the 35% tax rate on some of the non-tito-owned stations in Brinkwold.

or just use sleet isle stations for 0% tax :)

Maybe something like when a fight is put in, its a 5v5. The defender can escalate it to a 20v20 or 50v50, but the attacker cannot. The numbers are always equal but only the defender can escalate. This stops people trying to snipe stuff out of hours, stops the big guys making GBS threads over the small guys, and allows the big guys to actually use their numbers to an advantage when its on their turf. It also means the big guilds vs big guilds can have their silly huge battles and have fun.

Maybe an additional limitation that 50v50 can only happen in red zones.

If taxes were changed we could say F territory and 5vs5 altogether and just being roaming lunatics. This is probably going to be my vote if beta comes around and changes are promising. Otherwise we can work out a porch to sleep on and run mad max style through red zones while also holding no territory. There are options we need to know how the game will path and if its viable. We will sound the horn of goondor should this happen.

this right here is our plan should 5v5 be a mandatory fun gate for this sandbox game. it sucks, it isn't glamorous but we can still squeeze some fun out of the whole situation
