HTTP 400: Bad post
Let's be real. A lot of good things have come out of the internet. But think of all the bad things it has brought us as well. Child pornography, instructions on how to make bombs, cyber bullying, doxxing, businesses being hacked, Something Awful etc. Do the pros really out weigh the cons?

Child porn's been around since before the net. The net just made it easier to distribute and acquire. So what would the world of CP be like without the net? Maybe people would be easier to catch. Less of it.

Instructions on how to make bombs also pre-dates the net. Anarchist cookbook. Steal this book. Is the anarchist cookbook legal to buy?

I think a serious problem from the internet is that it allows furries/child molesters/anime watchers to congregate with others with the same interests. Once in a group, they all talk to each other about their perversion, and end up normalising their behavior. After enough normalisation, they think it's totally fine to talk about banging 12 year old anime demon princesses because they are actually 1500 years old.

This but any extremist or bullshit philosophy. Suddenly everybody thinks they're the mainstream when you can get 30 people together on the same forum. Every loving thing has turned into an echo chamber and it's only accelerated the cult of me.

Was agriculture a bad idea?
Let's be real. A lot of good things have come from farming. But think of all the bad things it has brought us as well. More sedentary life, fewer nutritional options, increased disease from living in close proximity with people and animals, less free time.
Do the pros really outweigh the cons?

Well if you're DARPA, MIT and the like having spent all this time and research inventing it, and the results are a cybernetic retard lawn mower boy, then yes.
Much like your parent's decision to not abort you, OP, the creation of the internet is indeed a source of enduring regret to those who spawned it.

Those bad things or at least things very similar to those all existed already, you just never heard about them. They may have been made easier by the Internet, but they were also exposed and efforts made against them because of the Internet.

People will get together with bad ideas regardless. Consider that in the past, they had to meet physically, so when they were done talking about their bullshit or whatever they would be bored and probably go out and do something terrible. Think of how much more incompetent today's groups are at making some big scene compared to the cross burners and lynch mobs of old.

I would say it was a bad idea. There are more unhappy shutins now than ever before. More sick and twisted preverts dressing as ponys. More spreading of sick fetishes.

Marilyn Monroe was one of the most popular actresses ever. She's definitely on the short list. And you could see her naked without the internet.

Your point has been refuted.

PROGRESSIVE SCAN
Upset Trowel
When radio was first invented, the optimistic thinkers of the day had great expectations for what it would do for humanity. Radio would be a great equalizer and let everyone rich or poor alike tune to broadcasts of university lectures, drama and great speeches. Knowledge could be plucked for free out of the æther, so radio would surely bring an end to ignorance and usher in a shiny new era of enlightenment.

A century later Bill O'Reilly is Keeping up with the Kardashians while our libraries are shredded to make room for internet portals to a billion idiot voices madly regurgitating memetic garbage, twittering minutiae of bowel movements and cherishing every pitiful like and upboat as medals of valor and proofs of relevance. The internet has become a tragic equalizer, a flattening culture solvent consuming in great all-obliterating bonfires of upworthiness everything novel, genuine or sincere in ten amazing facts you won't believe click here.

The best thing about the internet is almost no evidence of this terrible mistake will persist when the last servers go offline and the planet goes dark in the great Collapse.
