Is it because yuo get to brag about it on twitter? after all the charity runs took off in the 90s, companies realized runners tend to have tons of disposable income and a bizarre compulsion to travel halfway across the country every weekend to jog for a couple hours, and hosting races is super cheap compared to other sports
