huskarl_marx posted:my understanding is the showrunners realized they didnt have a good way to end the series so they figured out a classy enough nonending is that accurate It was a very satisfying conclusion, the entire season was wrapping up most of the major themes and character relationships and the finale finished it off very well. But people wanted a big dramatic climax and for Tony to definitely Win or Lose at being a mobster when the entire show is about how you can't Win at it, you just go on until you lose. People wanted a Godfather ending when the entire show was never about that. I mean people literally watched the entire show from the first to the last episode complaining that there wasn't enough shooting and mob violence, somehow never realizing that maybe the show wasn't about that. No, the Sopranos should have ended somewhere between the third and eighth guest star who got out of prison, acted nuts, and then got whacked by Tony Failing that, Tony, Carmella, A.J. and Meadow should have all died way way way earlier and it should have become the Johnny Sac vs Leotardo show Failing that, whoever greenlighted that poo poo where Tony is a salesman in an alternate universe should have been dipped in barbecue sauce and thrown in the tiger exhibit at the zoo But it failed to do any of those, and it had an ending, therefore the ending was stupid and lovely and bad

Also how do you make a list of "things the sopranos did wrong" and leave out Melfi having nothing to do after season 3 and the Vito/Johnny Cakes saga.
