casual shitmagic with friends is fun once or twice a year. anything competitive or serious is garbage

no the restricted list is on its way out actually, i doubt it will last many more years. too much money in it for wizards

some of the nerds are talking about a class action lawsuit if they get rid of the restricted list lmao

the mtg computer game that came out in like 1997 where you could just make your deck be whatever you wanted it to be instead of blowing money on boosters made me realize how fuckin' dumb ccgs were and never wasted my money on that poo poo ever again

I was 10 years old at the time, too bad I didn't think back on that lesson 7 years later with MMOs and internet forums

you could also not be lovely at math and just do that but in real life and make money in addition to it

ive played for almost 15 years now and its laughably easy for a group of people to pool money and buy bulk pre-orders of singles for new sets and flip the good ones around. eventually you dont need to put money into it because you sell off the old stuff to buy the new stuff that you play tournaments with and then sell, rinse & repeat

its a really easy and pretty fun way to make money, mtgonline made it 10x easier, too. its a good time to not suck at math, in the mtg world

e: our last speculation was buying 100 of a card named den protector for $2.50. http://sales.starcitygames.com/cardsearch.php?singlesearch=Den+Protector you could say it went well, we sold them before they dropped below 10 though

flood the market with black lotuses

theres no point, theres only a few hundred high quality black lotuses so if you put on up for sale it will get scrutinized by every sperg this side of the atlantic ocean

they print off massive sheets of hundreds of dual lands and stuff that are worth a few hundred each and sell them for 50-100 rather than their real price, people are so excited about a good deal they buy 4

there really is a lot of hubbub about these but the truth is they are very easy to spot if you are not a retarded kid using moms credit card to buy poo poo off ebay. its really a non-issue aside from the nerds who are sad they might get fleeced due to their stupidity/greed/lack of care

yeah you could do that or you could have more gratifying hobbies, don't get me wrong bilking nerds out of their hard-earned cash must be pretty satisfying but the game must still be terribly unfun

i cant really find a game comparable than it other than maybe settlers of catan, which is a whole different thing. its easily the best game in the world, in my opinion, and i felt that way before i started making more money on it than i spend, so idk

its good for keeping your brain active, too, and its better than staying in the basement all day

i have some other hobbies i guess but none have lasted 15 years and none make me money

where are you going to get an inking factory and the millions of yuans in startup and bribe money though?

this isnt a dude printing these off in his home, this is a business model run by a group of guys who saw MTG and thought "hey making fake cards is pretty good money lets do that" and built a factory to do it exactly like wizards has here in the states

i don't know what's funnier that fat people can't sit in plastic chairs without breaking them or that fat people keep trying to sit in plastic chairs that they have to know will break

yea so that is literally actually how it went down, the guy who ran the tournaments kept yelling at the fatties to not sit in the lovely plastic chairs since they were rated like max 180lbs, so he literally went and bought metal chairs so that the fatties would have chairs they could sit on without breaking

but the chairs would sit stacked by the register and when a fatty waddles over to table 23, he sure as hell isnt going back to the store entrance to get a chair and carry it all the way back, so he just sits on the plastic one and breaks the poo poo out of it

3 times

3 different guys

hngh

what sets did you play in? if alpha/beta theres some money there, even the commons are a buck at least. later sets drop off really significantly except for a few expensive ones

bayou, tropical island, volcanic island, taiga, savannah, badlands, scrubland, etc those are all worth at least a 100+

when what cards you have access to stops being a consideration it's basically all down to luck or "skill" and there is actually very little room for "skill" in mtg so you loving cheat if you wanna make bank
