I make the best space doll houses ever
Sometimes I'm an introvert. Sometimes I'm not.

I almost get this feeling, that maybe... Just maybe, there are broader ranges of human experience than zoological classifications, and maybe as complicated beings we tend to change and adapt to both our environment and our need to grow and explore as humans, and maybe sometimes we just feel differently about different things.

Naaahhh, that would mean its up to the individual to accept responsibility for their way of life that's making them unhappy, and that's just ludicrous! I mean aren't we introverts just victims of a society of jocks and loud morons that mock our deep, sensitive and misunderstood way of life?

Seriously though, that first comic is bullshit. Don't treat me like a strange, alien woodland creature just because you suspect that I was born with this rare disease called... introversion.

I have a friend who has sent me articles and comics like that explaining how they're an introvert and basically comes off as "I'm a special snowflake and you need to treat me with kid-gloves because I don't know how to deal with normal social situations."

This is someone who will agree to go to a social function so as to not let other people down and then feel uncomfortable by the function and instead of saying, "I have to leave. It's been fun!" they'll stay until their breaking point is reached.
Then they start the cycle of not wanting to do anything social and feeling better about being alone and when it gets to the point where they need to do something social then they have the same problem all over again.

And with introverted people in general, they seem to HATE using the telephone. I have a few friends who actually cringe when their phone rings with a random number. They'll complain about these random calls and when I say, "Why don't you answer and see what it is? They might have a wrong number and don't know it." I get a look like I just said the most offensive thing ever to them.

Boring psychology stuff that I can't stop myself making GBS threads out:

The problem with the internet's understanding of intro/extroversion isn't just that it suggests a binary rather than a spectrum but that it fails to disambiguate two separate concepts: 1) the desired amount of social interaction, and 2) the perceived effort required to socialise or ability to socialise. These are separate, being introverted in the first sense may or may not correspond with the second: a person may desire little social interaction but have no problem doing it and even come across as charismatic and confident when interaction is necessary. Or they may have the second in the absence of the first and desire interaction but feel anxious and uncomfortable from it (might explain the 'online introverts can't shut up' effect). This second combination might better be thought of as social anxiety, but the two concepts are conflated into one intro/extroversion factor in the public consciousness due to a misconception or oversimplification derived from how psychologists tend to operationalise personality. See personality is considered primarily from the observor's perspective rather than the subjects, therefore it doesn't matter why or what causes the subject to socialise less, just that they do. While this attitude manifests in the disambiguated intro/extroversion scale featured in most Big 5 inspired personality assessments they also tend to include additional scales and subscales that in total provide a clearer picture; however, this complexity is lost on the various media, self-diagnosing undergrads and dilettantes that define public knowledge of psychology.

As far as providing a clear picture of your own intro/extroversion relative to others goes, while HEXACO or NEO-PI-R are the more familiar personality assessments in academia I personally feel proprietary assessments do a much better job and recommend the Hogan Personality Inventory or SHL's personality index in particular. Of course being proprietary assessments for industry you may have trouble getting your hands on them just to satisfy your curiosity but if you are ever tested as part of a job application or career development program it is well worth taking note of your results.

Sorry about the unnecessary nerd out, I know it's dumb to do it in gbs but I can't help but jump on the twisted understanding of psych stuff that public and especially arty tumblr types have.

This is actually a separate personality type called artroversion that involves being abnormally ashamed of and anxious about your art. I'm very sorry and I know this is hard, but your webcomic is desperately needed to raise awareness for this little known affliction.
