It looks as if Shigeru Miyamoto and Genyo Takeda will be interim presidents of Nintendo for now. Takeda is a hardware guy (he created battery powered backup, the analog stick, and was the lead designer for the Wii), and Miyamoto is, of course, a game guy. Miyamoto will probably succeed him, which would be interesting. It would also mean that he wouldn't be able to spend as much time developing games

Iwata was one of the few that started as a video gamer, then game developer and continued up to being CEO. There's not many like him in the industry, since most CEOs of game companies are just business dudes that navigated the corporate world correctly and don't know a thing about coding a game. I guess that's what made Nintendo special, and that's kind of why I'd like to see Miyamoto take the reigns. Takeda is going for broad appeal (he famously compared the Wii's lack of horsepower as being like an economy vehicle, the cars that everyone buys, whereas the PS3 / 360 were sports cars that you only buy if you're rich), and he's also already pretty old too.
