Welcome to another exciting game of BattleCON! Today, we've got two new players giving it their all!

On the left side, we have Ldsity playing the once and future tyrant, the revenant nobleman climbing up from the bottom, Lord Cairngort Rexan!

On the right side, we've got Cerepol playing the Brandtford twins, sharing one wolf soul and one human soul between them, Karin and Jager!





If you have any questions, feel free to ask. I'll do an explanation of the basic rules in the next post. For now, I need your choice of Discards and your Finisher. Send them via PM, and I'll set it up for a post.

All right, so, basic rules. If you look at your character sheet, you'll see it's composed of four main parts: your Unique Ability, underneath your character portrait; your two Finishers, listed underneath that; your five Styles, listed just to the right of those; and your seven Bases, all the way on the right.

First up, the Unique Ability. Every character's is a little different. Ldsity, your ability gives your opponent Curse Tokens whenever they hit you. Having those is damned-if-you-do, damned-if-you-don't: if they ante them, they lose power and priority and you gain special benefits; if they don't ante the tokens, they risk taking damage and you get special benefits on other Styles. Cerepol, you're playing two characters, the standup Karin and the marker Jager. Your Styles give you special benefits depending on where Jager is located. A lot of them want Jager as near to the opponent as possible, so keep him moving.

Next, your Styles and Bases. You have five unique Styles, one unique Base, and six Bases you share with your opponent. Before the game starts, you'll choose two Styles and Bases to put into Discard 1 and Discard 2. This means you'll have three Styles and five Bases in your hand at a given time. On your turn, you'll choose one Style and one Base to send to me, called an attack pair. Cerepol will get the chance to ante any Curse tokens you've got, then I'll reveal the two attacks simultaneously. The one with the higher Priority (the Priority on the Base plus the modifier on the Style) is the Active Player. You'll activate your attack pairs in turn, then cycle your discards. Your attack pair goes into Discard 1, Discard 1 goes into Discard 2, and Discard 2 goes into your hand.

Finally, your Finisher. We'll be playing with Special Abilities rules, so you've got three superpowers you can activate when the time is right: Cancel, which forces your opponent to throw their attack pair away and choose a different one; Pulse, which lets you rearrange the board to your whim (although you can't move Jager); and your Finisher, a super-powered attack that you can only use if your life is below 7 life. (I'll color it bold once it's available.)

As I said, if there's anything confusing, feel free to ask me. I didn't explain anything about moving, activating attacks, Soak and Stun Guard, and so on, so tell me if you don't understand how it works.

Rexan, once Karin's done, you can choose in either order. I can guess which way you want to do it, but for the record, which order would you like to do it? Advance, then retreat? Or retreat, then advance?

Now, there's a bit of a pickle. Karin's guaranteed to end her turn adjacent to Rexan. So here's the question. If Ldsity decides to advance first, does he advance 0 or 1? I'm gonna go ask the main thread.

One interesting thing you might notice here is that Karin had two On Hit effects. These can happen in either order. In fact, it was to her benefit to do the Grasp move first, as it moved Rexan into position for the other effect to work. Some characters (Byron, for example) rely heavily on this.
