I would have sex with Minnie Driver, but I wouldn't pine over her for a decade. I think this is a fair assessment of the romantic plot of the movie

This movie is peak Driver, peak Cusack and is legitimately funny without seeming to try too hard (the fault of most comedies). "Join our union" "Will there be meetings?" "Of course" "NO MEETINGS!" pow pow pow pow

The main thing I remember from that movie is when he asks his old teacher if she's still forcing kids to read Ethan Frome. I felt so vindicated in hating that dreadful book.

Snappy dialogue without getting too annoying. Cute without being too cutesy. A lot of murders. Yeah good movie A+ would watch again and again.

How can you hate Ethan Frome? It's like the shortest book ever, there's a fun sled ride and it's Edith Wharton. I would happily cut off my bollocks to write prose like hers.

I remember the movie being kind of bad because it couldn't decide whether it was a black comedy or absurdist slapstick. Like the "hitman in a reunion" part is sensible if slightly over-the-top, but the hitman union/cartel and the wacky chase scenes feel totally out of place.

Parts are good, but they don't come together as a whole. In Bruges is Grosse Pointe Blank done right.

This is one of my favourite films. I get annoyed every time I remember its spiritual sequel was "War, Inc", a very bad film with Ben Kingsley phoning it in even more than usual, and an ending that makes it apparent they ran out of both money and ideas.
