You're breaking my balls here
:siren:Add your name to this spreadsheet if you want an invite into the Trove Goons club!:siren:
:siren:Each person can sponsor a single friend/spouse/whatever into the guild, but they are responsible for that person. If you are doing this, add their in-game name to the spreadsheet, and fill out the "sponsored by" column with YOUR in-game name. Obviously you do not need to fill out their SA Name.:siren:

Give me the run down on Trove.
Trove is a free to play MMORPG set in an infinite world filled to the brim with content. It has randomly generated terrain sprawling in every direction, full of dungeons, quests, and some very unique biomes. You can fight cupcake men in Candyland. You can sail across vast oceans and trade with pirates. You can traverse a Tron Legacyesque urban environment filled with robots and mechs. You can crawl into the carcass of a giant desert sandworm and find your way into its stomach. Most importantly, you can do all of these things with goons!

The dungeons in Trove are random like Warframe's dungeons - static set pieces randomly jumbled together such that they are random, but still feel hand crafted. There is a ton of them unique to each biome, and the randomization gives them a lot of variety. The items are similar to Diablo, with random stats that can be upgraded with crafting. Lastly, Trove's Metaforge allows players to submit even more new items and dungeons to fill the world with, which ensures that new content will flow forth with every single patch.

Most of the classes in Trove are unique spins of traditional classes, like the Candy Barbarian, or the Neon Ninja, and they all have very divergent and active play-styles. Trove allows you to "multiclass" so you can switch between classes at will if you need to switch up your play-style.

There are tons of modes of transportation in the game, you can fly, ride a mount, sail a ship bristling with cannons, or ride a magnetized mine cart at ridiculous speeds down mag rail tracks. Most of these things are not restricted by level either, your mount is given to you practically as you leave the tutorial. If you get tired of questing, there are lots of other activities for you to do - you can work on your cornerstone, or go fishing, or do gardening, or go mining, or do some crafting, or collect recipes if that is your thing.

What is a cornerstone?
A cornerstone is your own personal plot of land that kind of follows you around through adventure worlds. You can build whatever dick shaped things your heart desires on it, and instantly plop it down wherever you happen to be. This allows you to take a house with you between worlds or servers, rather than rebuilding it all the time, and adds a touch of creativity and persistence to the game.

It is possible to build outside of the cornerstone, but because you likely won't be on that world forever, you will leave your creation behind. This is what Club Worlds are for. They are persistent worlds associated with your club, that allow you to build whatever you like, wherever you like. You can even terraform your club world to plop your own biomes down.

What does the end-game look like?
Pretty good! The level cap is technically 20, but the game keeps track of your item level as well, allowing you to push your "level" up to 42. Once you hit the end-game, there are six levels of "uber" difficulty to push your limits with questing, allowing you to upgrade your gear through all 12 rarity levels. Hitting end-game also allows you to run Shadow Arenas, which are essentially small-scale raids. It also allows you to run Sky Worlds, which are kind of like timed trials set in the clouds. Furthermore, you continue to get bonuses for raising your cumulative mastery level, which goes up to 200, for doing things like crafting, fishing, and leveling other classes. Once your mastery level hits 30, the game starts giving you timed quests every hour on the hour to do things in specific biomes with specific classes. With all of this in mind, there's a ton of stuff to do when you hit "end-game", especially considering that the game just launched, and it will only get better over time.

Is Trove pay to win?
Everything with a tangible gameplay benefit can be earned over sane time periods using in-game currencies, so no. I've unlocked about half of the playable classes in only a week of play. The only things that can only be purchased with real money are cosmetic.

Is Trove a Minecraft clone?
No. Trove has procedurally placed cubes, like Minecraft, but it is much more of a roleplaying game than a survival game. If you start thinking more along the lines of Cube World or Terraria, you'd be closer, but Trove is much more polished than those titles and has much more content. This is partially because Trove was created by a larger development team, but also because they accept user created content in Trove, ensuring an endless stream of new content.

Isn't the target audience for Trove children?
No more than Zelda Wind Waker or World of Warcraft is targeted at children. It has stylized graphics, but for every cheery candy cane man, or smiling sunflower, there is an undead lich on a pile of bones, or a shadow demon taking refuge in the viscera of a massive dragon skeleton. There is just as much "dark" content as there is "light" content.

Is there a goon presence?
An extremely large one. We have several club worlds connected to one central one that we have been expanding upon. Add your name to the spreadsheet if you are interested in killing mans with goons.

I want to know everything about all of the classes.
Alright, each class is described below. However, keep one thing in mind...every class in this game has a unique playstyle. Some of them are more powerful than others, but less fun to play, such as the Dracolyte. Some are less powerful, but more fun to play, such as the Neon Ninja. Some are not powerful, and not fun to play, such as the Gunslinger. Keeping in mind that power does not mean everything, I am going to order the classes in order of relative power. If you are unsure what to unlock next, find the class closest to the top of the list, and you should be fine, but don't sweat it if you want to try something different - every class is fun in its own way.

The Tomb Raiser: :iiam:

This is the only class that can use two different weapon types, making it quite versatile. It also gets free bombs, which help for mining, or creating shortcuts through dungeons. These two facts make this class great at farming things. Do not underestimate that utility.

Now I want to know about all of the biomes.
The biomes are all associated with a specific class, and since most of the biomes are now associated with one, and the developers plan on introducing new classes fairly frequently, it stands to reason that there will be new biomes as new classes are introduced. Each biome has its own resources, dungeons, and lairs.

Peaceful Hills
This biome is where you spawn into the world. There are no enemies in it, just giant sunflowers on occasion with seeds that help with gardening, and a greatly increased frequency of cornerstones to plop your base down on. These biomes can appear outside of the initial area, but there is always one where you start. The Boomeranger is associated with this biome.

Medieval Highlands
Your typical Everquest area, a medieval era area filled with magic castles, and other classic RPG settings and enemies. The Knight is associated with this biome.

Cursed Vale
A gloomy forest biome, filled with undead stuff and awesome ruins and graveyards. The Tomb Raiser is associated with this biome.

Desert Frontier
A desert biome full of things like cacti, mining ghost towns, sandworms, and giant skeletons. The Gunslinger is associated with this biome.

Fae Wilds
A forest touched by magic, with fairies, anthromorphic animals, giant flowers, and magical thickets. The Fae Trickster is associated with this biome.

Dragonfire Peaks
A desolate inhospitable landscape full of lava, volcanos, and dragon nests. The Dragonyte is associated with this biome.

Permafrost
The ice biome, full of things like igloos, ice castles, and yeti lairs. The Ice Sage is associated with this biome.

Neon City
An urban setting inhabited by robots, where it seems to perpetually be night, and rivulets of plasma run everywhere. A definite Tron influence here. The Neon Ninja is associated with this biome.

Candoria
A Candyland biome with giant cakes, rivers of chocolate, gumdrops and such everywhere. It sounds very pleasant, but getting charged by three lollipops screaming "EAT ME!" "NO! EAT ME!" is more disturbing than it sounds. The Candy Barbarian is associated with this biome.

Treasure Isles
The ocean biome - and for once, the scale is not an issue. These oceans can be massive, and encompass islands comprising of other biomes. In the Treasure Isles, you will find pirates, and not all of them want to kill you! Some want to trade. A ship definitely helps traverse this area. The Pirate Captain is associated with this biome.

Sky Realms
This biome is tough to get to since it is end-game, but it is full of clouds, floating islands, and vast radiant towers and ruins inhabited by golems created by a long lost civilization. The Shadow Hunter is associated with this biome.

Reserving a bit of space here. This is my first thread this large, so I'll probably be tweaking it periodically. It could probably use a bit more information on the classes.

If it wasn't entirely evident from the first post, drop your name in that spreadsheet and I'll send you an invite to the club. I know there are goons playing Trove, because a lot of Goon Squad club names were taken. :suicide: However, without a thread, none of them have really been able to coordinate, and I'm hoping we can do that here.

I've been playing this game for a couple days, and since I couldn't find any clubs to join, I made my own with the name 'Ye Olde Goon Squad'. Perhaps people would prefer to join that one instead? I have no real preference.

Do we have a club world not dominated by penises? I'm normally all for dong-related hijinx, but my 6-year-old loves to watch the game and I don't want to have to explain things.

We'll be using Ambaire's club whenever the servers unlock, and his club world is untouched by dongs, or anything, really, for the moment.

Since players can be members of more than one club, I suggest Ye Olde Goon Squad's world be fairly tame and yours be the raunchy dong paradise. Per Eschers Basement's request earlier.

Also, this game is awesome if only for the one reason that you can summon another player to you no matter where you are or what you are doing. Some guy invited me to the sky realms to help farm sky shard somethings earlier when my character was only level 12 with no wings. Jump 29 goes a long way, though.

I'm kinda disappointed by the PVE content so far. Do I really have to mindless grind through these levels until I reach the level cap before things start to get a bit interesting? I'm level 10 and I keep feeling like I'm fighting the same enemies over and over again.

Apparently on the livestream today, the developers said they'd be giving out some stuff to compensate for the downtime this week. Three days of patron to everybody, possibly more for people that actually were patrons...three shadow keys, and a class coin. Pretty generous.

Also, immediate plans for them: a "Shadow Tower" update, with a gigantic shadow siege mech type boss with telegraphed attacks. I assume they're going for raid style content. After that, they are planning a new class tied to the moon, based around a new weapon type, and then an update dedicated to underground areas/mag rails.

Don't worry, the shartstorm is infrequent and mild most of the time!

EDIT: The server seems to be back up, I think. Maybe?

This game is embarrassingly fun. I'd been ignoring the e-mails I'd gotten about it thinking it was just a dopey, cutesy kiddy friendly version of Minecraft and...well, that's what it was but I'm goddamn hooked. :v:

Spent most of the afternoon flying around as an actual, literal fairy, more focused on finding interesting looking blocks and increasingly ridiculous hats.

Well poo poo, you're giving me an itch to actually try this game out which is the compelete opposite of what I was thinking when I saw it on steam

e: downloading it with steam made the glyph launcher crash, so uh, if you're having trouble download the standalone I guess?

Would just like to give a heads up that this game is made by Trion. I'd be wary of spending any money in whatever cash shop they have, as they charged me for about 3 months of Archeage after I cancelled the first month. Also fishing pacts.

Just played this for a couple of hours, it really does scratch that "run around and kill random things and find loot" itch really well. I added myself to the spreadsheet since this seems like a game that's more fun with more people.

This game is stupidly fun for what looks like a colorful, childish game. I bought a supporter pack or whatever they were called way back when and didn't get too far into it. Came back for the stress test last month and futzed around for about a week. Candy Barbarian is loads of fun. Boyfriend rolled around as an Ice Sage and we handily destroyed everything in sight with no issues. This game is definitely meant to be played with multiple people, mining/collecting resources rewards everyone nearby with a 100% share of what is collected. So, while it might seem intimidating to collect stuff by yourself, all you gotta do is find a few friends and craft a few bombs. Haven't touched it much since launch due to school work, but one of my favorite things was exploring other club worlds. There are so many fantastic musical mag tracks out there, not to mention I saw a basically to scale representation of Bikini Bottom and a pretty cool Jurassic Park as well just bouncy around the main popular club worlds. People are so creative. The only drawback for me was when we gained access to the sky realms and couldn't really.. do.. much there aside from mine some clouds and farming shards. Couldn't kill the dudes there, so it was kind of a let down after the build up to "SKY REALMS cool poo poo fly around place get better gear." Just had to grind shadow arenas at higher uber levels and find a group before attempting it, I guess.

Anyway, game owns and Candoria for life.

Added some basic formatting to the spreadsheet. Names in green are in the club, names in yellow are people I've sent invites but they weren't online, names in red haven't been invited yet. If your name is yellow I periodically send out invite waves. If you aren't content waiting, just whisper Arsonide, Ambaire, or AssHaggis in game for one.

I also threw a club chest and a few basic crafting benches into the club world, to help us pool resources for whatever unholy things will be happening in there. Keep in mind that if we mine together we get X times the amount of resources, X being the number of players in the group.

I've been playing this for a year now and it's pretty fun if you treat it as a casual Dick about game you play for a few hours every couple of days. I will sign up on the spread sheet when I'm not at work. I have all but one of the Uber portals and am half way to the sky portal so I can donate to the group as needed. I also have all of the crafting stations and top tier ring crafting.

The jump stat can get pretty silly, I have a combined stat of something like 24 right now, I pretty much just jump to the top of tower shaped dungeons and go straight for the boss. :v:

I like to mostly solo and I like cool classes that do neat poo poo. I also generally enjoy pet classes. Candy Barb, Tomb Raiser, or Pirate Captain?

Candy Barbarian is good at soloing, but isn't a pet class. Tomb Raiser is great at soloing, and is a pet class. Pirate Captain is a pet class, but more stationary pets, like turrets almost. I'd say given your description, you want Tomb Raiser.

Thanks! I started by messing around with Pirate Captain since Tomb Raiser wasn't available as a starter, but I may switch over once I get a class token.

Count me in. I'm Emtu in-game.

I started as a Dracolyte (I think it's level 18) and I used the free class coin to start Tomb Raiser, and I love the hell out of it. The little tossable minions are great, and the giant you can merge them into is really good.

Edit: Is it just me, or do most of the monsters in the Candy biome scream "EAT ME!" as they charge at you? That's a little creepy, man.
