Seriously when did this happen? A bunch of the women I work with today were talking about that Steven Universe bullshit. In fact, why do so many people watch so much terrible TV in general? I hear people talking about binge watching tv series on netflix and I just feel ashamed for them. People should be out hella active bustin moves in the streets, not vegetating in front of the idiot box. Just my $0.02

Hmm... when did people start watching bad things? I think the answer is "since forever" OP.

Sometime in the 1930's, OP, back when the original Looney Tunes were intended for adult audiences.

cartoons are objectively better than they were twenty years ago that said it's kind of creepy for someone in their mid-twenties to be that enthusiastic about Adventure Time or Steven Universe or w/e

animation started as an "adult" thing, it just predominantly appeals to easily excited people, such as children

People finally realized that there is no such thing as being an adult or that it mostly involves being a boring person and thus stopped giving a gently caress. Also, they are "animated shows". Get it right, dude!

I don't watch many movies tho so I don't understand the reference. Edit: I'm not gonna hate on someone that says they like The Simpsons and watch it casually or whatever. I think people just take their TV consumption way too far and I don't understand how they don't lose their minds.

wikipedia posted:In the Bugs Bunny animated cartoon Falling Hare, Bugs is pestered by a gremlin while trying to fly a World War II bomber. When he realizes what the gremlin is, he timidly asks, "Could that have been a [whispering] gremlin?" In a German accent, the gremlin replies, shouting in Bugs's ear, "It ain't Vendell Villkie!" At the 1940 Republican National Convention, the head of one Midwest state delegation announced "two votes for Villkie" in a Scandinavian accent. Broadcast on national radio as it had been, "It ain't Vendell Vilkie" was briefly in vogue as a standard American rejoinder.[26] been trying to figure out what that was about for like 25 years, thanks wikipedia

it still isnt socially tolerated lol 99% of people in real life will think you are a stupid manchild for it. gotta be polite about it irl though so you just nod and find an excuse to stop listening to them talk about how it actually has really deep themes intended for grown audiences. if your kid/nephew/whatever watches it you go "oh yeah ive seen that a couple times its alright" while thinking "jesus christ why wont this sperg shut the gently caress up" just because you post on a website where everyone is a manchild doesnt mean the rest of the world is like that

People watch cartoons or reality shows for the same reason they eat junk food or jack off to porno clips. It's unchallenging and emotionally safe in every way, which is necessary for people to unwind after coming home from work.
