Name: Dhiren Shah

From the Indian Ocean to the South China Sea, the flying boat reigns supreme, and throughout the dens and bars where pilots of these skyborne vessels congregate, there is always one name spoken in hushed tones. Dhiren Shah, known as the Prince of the Sea and Sky, a veritable legend that, like most legends, nobody could be sure truly existed. Some said that he learned to fly in the Great War, and above the killing fields something changed him forever. Others say that he did not truly change until a chartered expedition to find the lost civilisation of Kumari Kandam saw him as the sole survivor, returning in a battered plane with a haunted look in his eye. He has been called a pirate, a rogue, an anarchist, a murderer, a monster, and a myth.

Dhiren Shah does exist, however, and no matter the rumours of his past, his present is working for the League. A solitary sort, he does not often socialise, but those who have gotten to know him will defend him fiercely. There is none more loyal, none more courageous, none more fearsome than the Prince of the Sea and Sky. Just refrain from entering his quarters unannounced, if you value your well-being.

This is my first time doing any sort of Atomic Robo thing, so I may have futzed up here and there. But I've tried to follow the book, and copy/imitate what's in there, as best as I can.

"Looks like it's just you, me, and the kid, professor," said Conroy, his lip curling as he looked down at the mess spattered over the rough stone slabs, a mess that had once been a man named Fitz. The cigarette almost fell from his mouth as a gentle, but forceful, cough from behind him broke the silence. He cast a look back over his shoulder to see the pilot, rifle held at the ready, a reproachful look smouldering in his dark eyes.

"Can't forget the help," added Conroy, turning away from the gore and bringing his own rifle up at the ready. "Professor, you got any idea what sort of – thing it is we're dealing with here? I thought the most we'd have to trouble ourselves with in this heathen Atlantis would be a couple of sharks, maybe."

"I did say, didn't I, that Kumari Kandam, though sunken, may be resting within a sort of, ah, air bubble?" Professor Moncreiffe was perspiring heavily, his horn-rimmed glasses slightly askew, his face pale. "Although this sort of magnitude, a true lost civilisation, untouched... ah... who knows what's down here in this untouched ecosystem? But if I were to hazard a– a guess for you, it might be... well, I'm not an expert on fauna, am I? But a... a..."

"Tiger." The voice cut through the professor's stammering like a knife. Or a claw. A rough rumble from the pilot, who was keeping his eyes fixed on the darkness. Everywhere was deep in shadow, the sole light amid the ruins coming from the phosphorescent rocks that had seemingly torn their way up through the ancient streets, great stalagmites and stalactites that glowed with a dull grey-green shimmer.

"Y-Yes... that," the professor added meekly, gulping. "I suppose you'd know, wouldn't you? Someone of, uh, your kind."

"Of course," replied the pilot in a dry tone. "We all raise them like chickens in my country. The children ride them to school."

"Listen, sambo–" Conroy began, marching up to the pilot, brow furrowed and face flush with anger. He was more than a head shorter than the pilot, but he already had a temper to match his attitude, and neither was being helped by the situation. He'd signed on for fame and fortune, not to be hunted down in the dark, miles beneath the ocean.

"Conroy!" The professor shouted.

"Nothin' doin', professor, but this–"

"Conroy! He's gone– he's missing!"

Conroy turned, and it didn't take much to do a headcount. He gulped, and despite the oppressive heat and humidity, his mouth felt very dry.

"Just you and me, professor," he mumbled, bringing his rifle up. He began to back away from the pilot, and the professor, his legs trembling with every forced step until he broke, turned and ran.

Neither the professor nor the pilot moved for a while. Not even when the scream came out of the night. Not even when it lingered. Not even when it was finally cut off.

The pilot did not see when the professor vanished. There was no sound, no scream. He was simply just... alone, all of a sudden. He sat down, leaned back against a wall resplendent with intricate carvings of people long dead and gods long forgotten. With his rifle across his knees, he pulled a book of matches from his pocket, and one by one he struck them, holding them between his thick fingers and letting them burn down entirely before striking the next. All the while he never took his eyes off the darkness.

When the second-to-last match flared, the tiger was in front of him. A head as broad as his shoulders. Black-on-black stripes, like midnight across coal. Eyes that burned like suns in the glare of the match flame.

"I won't run," said the pilot, holding the placid gaze. His voice was steady, even as his heart thundered. "I won't scream. But I will fight... if you will permit me."

The tiger stood there, and the flame wavered with every hot breath that washed the scent of blood over the pilot.

"Interesting," it said at last, in a voice that came from nowhere and everywhere at once. The match flickered out, and yet the burning eyes remained. "Perhaps I have spent too long here, in the dark. I miss the sounds of the temples, the echo of faith, the cries for mercy. Mercy that I can still grant. Yes... I permit you to fight."

The pilot lit the last match. The tiger was gone. He got to his feet and shook the match out, the flame too bright for him now. He blinked, and looked out into the shadows. Slowly things began to clear, and he could see the splendour of Kumari Kandam. He could see the twisted bodies of the last of the expedition. And he could see the way home.

Okay, I read through the stuff I missed, but I am not 100% clear on the situation. As I understand it, Yvette are on the bridge and just docked the airship, Frank, Arthur and Magnus are in the hangar and Dhiren boarded the fleeing pirate plane. Is that correct?

Dhiren is on the bridge with Yvette, Arthur's the one who jumped on the plane.
