i did a clean install off a usb, and it is asking me for a key, but also has a skip button. the media tool i used also told me i better have a key when i install or i'd be sorry!!

it'll ask if you want to transfer documents/apps/settings, choosing no more or less means a clean install iirc

I'm not here to defend windows but a majority of people will not have problems on their everyday machines. Those tricking the update system, installing drivers, and immediately jumping in to high spec games will have problems, but why hold the release to please this 5%?

Just relax, get the update when it comes to you, use the computer like normal, give yourself a day or two to acclimate from windows 7, and everything will be fine.

I downloaded the ISO from MS, mounted the disk image in 8.1 Pro and it did a clean install. everything works fine and nothing has crashed.

*i am running this in a VM lol if windows is your main os
