What's automation?

A game where you build cars, basically. You can select various body types, select an engine (Currently available I4, I6, V6, V8, flathead V8), suspension, and interior. Then your car gets rated! Isn't that fun!

That's...it?

Right now, yeah. Here are some planned features, that are not yet in the game. Thank automation forums poster "Zeussy"

code:
Inline 3 Engine
Inline 5 Engine
V10
V12
CVT
Syncro and nonsynchro transmissions
Variable Cargo space
Multiplayer
Tycoon portion of game (Build a car people want)
AI Car Companies
---What might come in after release---
W8,W12,W16,W18
Diesels
Hybrids
Electrics
What can you put in cars?

Well, you have to setup the chassis, body, frame, suspension, exterior, then you have to get to the down and dirty with the engine, setting up valve timing, etc. It's a good time! You have to adjust against things like valve float, or engine knocking by modifying your rev limiter, and how much your engine compresses. For the specific unlock dates (You can choose to hamstring yourself if you wish by selecting any date from 1940 to 2020), check this list, which was assembled by Mason148 on the automation forums, thanks Mason!

Dicking with the suspension

It's...not a good engine

How is this game when it comes to polish?

Well, there's glitches, and you can make some V8s faster than a Bugatti Veyron, but it's a small team, and every week or so they post updates on their youtube channel, here

How big is the devteam?

I can't find out. It's small. Please support them, it's worth at least two hours of fun!

This isn't a game, it's a spreadsheet with graphics. It looks like CAE software.

Someone needs to tell them HP and Torque align and cross @ 5250 RPMs, not 5800.

I'm going to stick up for it and I do believe they cross at 5250, I'm not sure why you say 5800.

Would it be kosher to talk about GearCity in this thread? Automation's uglier, spreadsheetier brother that's a little more finished?

I remember looking at this game a few years back.
Nothing seemed to have been improved.

There's a car-building challenge in LP, in case you people want to practice building your skills with this game and design some race cars.

Saw this thread by chance looking for direct acting ohc engines on google.

They've shown V12 twin turbos in the last dev update. :toot:
