Cillian Murphy while a very pretty man, isn't that strong of an actor without Nolan building entire scenes around him. Boardwalk Empire but in Britain isn't the best concept for a show You can make a show that is literally 1980s levels of sitcom stereotypes and get lauded for making "realistic characters" In the right hands even a boring as gently caress Batman ripoff can be a good show, atleast up until the last 2 episodes. The "bad rear end" kid from Mighty Ducks is downright charming these days If you're gonna make a show continuing on the timeline of a show that ended 7 years ago, make sure you can actually shoot scenes with the stars actually interacting before you start production. Kevin Spacey really needs to play the bad guy in everything If you're gonna make a historical fiction show ala Rome, make sure you hire actual writers who have some understanding of the period. You can make a show where the main character is a terrible human being who cries about everything, but if the supporting cast is good it will still keep you interested through the series
