Trump is a blessing, but not for the reason OP thinks he is. His kind of frothing pseudo-fascist delusional populism can never win a general election, and everyone left of Michele Bachmann knows it. If he manages to make it all the way to the end of the primaries without a Cain-style implosion, the GOP party fathers will endeavor somehow to keep him from becoming the Republican nominee, because they are not morons. If this happens, he will throw a huge whiny baby tantrum and form his own party (he has made vague noises about doing this already). If the Tea Party and the GOP establishment finally split off from each other, neither of them will ever win an election again. It's just such a wonderful scenario. Can you see it? It's so beautiful in my mind  Sometimes I wonder whether Trump has been a secret deep-cover Democratic plant this entire time, to get all the Tea Party craziness out in the open without being couched in election-safe terms or dogwhistled properly. Out and free in the wind, where it can do the most damage to itself.
