10 signups in 10 hours? That's appropriate for the pace I'm going for here. Closing it out so folks have a fair chance at a spot... our players are, in the following order: 1. Cocks Cable 2. Gravy Train Robber 3. Trasson 4. Pander 5. Arivia 6. Toshimo Please pick your characters and starting draw (except for Cocks). Character choice priority is based on turn order, and while I'm not going to enforce BSG character selection rules outright, I'll reorder you as necessary so it makes sense. If you're intent on keeping your place in the turn order, you should probably pick a couple of different characters as options. As always, sorry to the folks who didn't get in - if we can stick to a similar speed as last game, I should be starting another game in a couple of weeks or so. If you didn't get into this game, you'll get increased priority in my next one so I can help keep players rotating out. EDIT: As a general reminder, including amusing BSG pictures/gifs with your posts is encouraged throughout this thread. You may want to keep this in mind while choosing your characters! Going with Cally. I want to see how good or bad that new OPG is.

Hmm. So it looks like the top card of each discard pile is public knowledge, but you can't go hunting through a specific pile until you use your OPG - once you use it, I guess I'd send you the contents of the discard pile you choose and let you pick the three cards of your choice. Does that sound about right?

Does that sound about right? I thought it was any 3 from any discard, not necessarily the same discard pile? But yeah, can't look until OPG.

I'm not finding the mod to Necessary Steps all that helpful in terms of running the game. You might want to go back to the official version with the caveat that whoever picks Zarek agrees to be fast/responsive. I had a slow poster pick Zarek once and it just ground the game to a huge halt every time mutiny was drawn.

For reference, here's OG Daybreak Zarek. Opinions from Pander & the other players? Neither option is fantastic in terms of keeping gameplay going quickly, but I don't want to pressure you into picking something else. I'm ambivalent between the two - both are about the same amount of extra work for me.

If you need to bump me for turn order or anything, draw 1 POL, 1 TAC, and 1 LEA

Cocks Cable posted:If you need to bump me for turn order or anything, draw 1 POL, 1 TAC, and 1 LEA Under standard BSG rules, isn't it impossible for a Support character in first position to be bumped? And anyways, first position takes precedence regardless.

Why is that OG Zarek pic a Military character and the version you have listed Political?
|
# ? Aug 18, 2015 18:04 |

I think the Zarek mod might keep the game going a bit faster, since my reshuffling of the mutiny deck USUALLY shouldn't require stopping play (whereas me selecting which mutiny card to give might). I'm pretty quick about responding and preloading.

Toshimo posted:Why is that OG Zarek pic a Military character and the version you have listed Political? Zarek changed from Political to Military between base game and Daybreak - it looks like whenever the SA hivemind changed from Base Zarek to Daybreak Zarek, they left him as a Political leader for whatever reason. I could probably change that if it ends up mattering, since I dunno what the original intent was. And OK, Pander - will leave the modded version as is and see how things roll.

Toshimo posted:Why is that OG Zarek pic a Military character and the version you have listed Political? Because that's the Daybreak version of Zarek. Daybreak introduced alt-versions of characters which changed their character type. None of them are very good except for Zarek which is kinda necessary since Daybreak changed how Admin location worked.

What he's pointing out is that the Daybreak version of Zarek is a Military leader, but Zarek is still listed as a Political leader in my copypaste-OP.

The difference between Political/Military is minimal and doesn't affect anything outside of BSG's weird character picking rules and his position in the order of succession chart. If you change him back to military, you have 1 more military guy and 1 less political guy and it breaks the nice even divide between military/political/pilot and my OCD acts up Original flavor Zarek is kinda bad and only made worse since now there is no skill check on Admin location. New Zarek is cooler and fills a more unique niche.
