I'm not making a fucking QCS thread for this but seriously can we take a harder stance on Kiwifarms freaks like this guy, Jesus Christ seriously, you used to be better at knocking these creeps down. I guess ADTRW mods aren't responsible like GBS mods are.
If anyone needs links to buy the movie send me a PM.

I watched it and it was alright. The teacher was chill despite is inability to hold a conversation. The dream sequence when they passed out before was kind of odd but it seemed it was related to her ex BF moving to Tokyo and all her band friends going away it seemed.

i watched the movie and i liked it. i t was a fun little story about high school and making friends and having friends. is this a normal genre for like Japanese films just a high school slice of life thing? i dont think like american movies have this same type of thing i am not much of a film buff. i also like how every dream sequence in Japanese tv or film has people you know standing around you clapping and saying congratulations.

there's a whole bunch of slice of life films yeah. the other films of this directors i have seen were SOL as well. low budget indie american films also do it sometimes (there was a specific name for this genre i forgot) but they aren't that prevalent

Similar to movies like Juno, yeah. There's not as many in Western movies on a larger scale because I don't think people could sit through a two hour slice of life movie where hardly anything happens which is why more of our films are like Superbad.

presuming this thread is still open for suggestions i will recommend

peking opera blues
farewell my concubine
millennium mambo
still life
like someone in love

also linda linda linda is really great and charming, its pretty hard to hate. one of the best teen movies really. i'm not gonna watch it again cuz i watched it like 2 weeks ago. its cool how obvious it is that kyoani loves it (not only k-on but live alive)

If the thread is still open for suggestions could Ikiru could be added to the list?

がんばルビ!
I haven't watched too many Asian films, so I'll just mention Departures and The Kids' Return, both with solid soundtracks by Joe Hisaishi. I'm still a bit unsure how to feel about the Kids' Return but that's mostly because it's a movie that ends on a somewhat ambivalent note. I watched it because I really liked the theme for it, so I was curious about the movie it was from.

Radio Spiricom

its cool that the director of academy award winning film departures used to direct pink films in the 80s

maybe we should include some ozu or naruse or oshima for the babies in the thread. i will suggest late spring and when a woman ascends the stairs and in the realm of the senses respectively

Parallax
Jan 14, 2006

I love Oshima but I wonder how well people would actually like his work. I think I saw six of his films before something clicked and I started liking them

Also I second Peking Opera Blues just because Brigitte Lin is in men's clothing for most of that movie and it's great

Just finished watching this week's movie and it was pretty good. I especially liked all the cute secondary scenes and plot lines like Son rejecting Macky, Korean BBQ Darts, and any scene with Takako.

But I agree with Flameingblack, Nozomi's just kinda there for a two hour-long movie. Thought she'd at least get some kind of minor plot line.

Also do they ever explain who the little girl is that Son hangs out with outside reading manga and at darts?

I dunno if we want rotating genres each week so we switch it up or if thats too complicated and just the OP dictates and can be swayed by posting

Nope! She acted like she was related to Son at first and then it's just never brought up again.

Then I realized you meant porn

On a related note, I'd like to recommend 2LDK for the movie pool

Although I liked 2LDK more, that's kind of begging for a double bill with Aragami, what with the whole Duel Project thing. They're both quite short movies.

choosing a random movie out of a new genre every week sounds like a good way to watch lots of different films. i might do that
