He gave up reading it after a few chapters and decided to make his own satire of militarism instead. Even funnier the studio had lots of turnover, so different people saw only short clips of the film and never caught on that it was intended to be a satirical film.

People always say the book was better and are wrong. Sure its got mofuckin powered armor but on the other hand it takes its concepts seriously whereas the movie doesn't. Movie wins. Besides turning war porn into military parody is just about the most admirable thing a human being can do.

i saw this when i was too young to understand campiness or movie tropes or anything like that, and I got really angry at how stupid the premise was i mean, bugs shooting things out their asses at escape velocity, which then travel across the galaxy to hit rio or buenos aires or w/e? and we send infantry to fight them?

stranger in a strange land is one of the best books. i like it a lot. the worst character is jubal though, because it is heinlein self projecting what he wishes he could be in life and the fantasy is less believable than the martian. heinlein is mostly a shitheel. starship troopers is an ok book, but a slightly better movie. the movie is better than the book, in this case, is what i'm saying.
