You're not my guy, friend.

Is the whole Jenner thing really that big a deal outside of the internet? I literally never heard of Bruce Jenner and my first exposure was when she was on the cover of a magazine. 99% of what I've seen regarding it was people on social media complaining about that hero award she won.

My boss lives in Malibu, often complains of Kardashian encounters, and the day of the Vanity Fair cover was a miserable day at work. "I don't care if he does it I just don't want to be forced to see it So, basically, five rich trust fund kids care.

It's a thing for privileged white kids with trust funds to champion because they've never actually had a hard time in their lives but they want to pretend they stand for something other than their own pockets. Then you have the middle class dregs who also don't really know any trouble attaching themselves to these people because hey, they don't want to be left out. Then you have the actual people suffering who have real issues to deal with. Case in Point with Jenner, the only people who really know and care watched the Kardashians, or read the kind of rags that cover this pointless bullshit. So as a short answer, I doubt it. I didn't know about it until this episode really.

Bruce Jenner was a hero back in the day, when he was on Wheaties boxes and an Olympic Athlete and ran around being the epitome of masculinity in the 70s and early 80s, with two girls on each arm and all of that. So yeah, a lot of not-internet people are pretty aware of and bothered by it.

Caitlyn Jenner is a fairly lovely person who's probably best known these days for manslaughter charges, being on reality TV and publicly transitioning (obviously). Also giving her an award for bravery was just stupid, it's certainly brave of most transfolks to transition but that's because they're not fabulously wealthy and part of one of America's most notorious reality TV families. That being said it's always nice to have a decently high profile person come out as trans and use their platform to raise some awareness and having a translady on the cover of Vanity Fair was sorta cool. There are definitely people from real life who care.

Bruce Jenner was like, probably as big as Magic Johnson or Larry Bird for people in the 70s/80s and was seen as a totally awesome American hero. Most people I know in real life only know that she's Caitlyn now and don't really know about the "lovely human being" stuff at all.

I loved the part where Hungover Randy explained that all of this is about rhetorically helping. Also I'm a peruvian goon so I don't understand what's the deal with Caitlyn's jokes. All in all it's a good start for the season.
