Of all the state capitols, which city is the worst? Feel free to talk about DC as well. My vote is Harrisburg, PA. Albany, NY and Richmond, VA kinda blow too. Annapolis, MD is nice if you own a yacht, super boring if you actually live there. E: fun fact, Annapolis is the only state capitol without a train station. You know, compared to Virginia as a whole, Richmond's not so bad. It's not some kind of underground cultural treasure, but it has a kind of low-rent hipster charm.

DC is nice, but super career oriented. No one actually grows up here. Everyone is a transplant. When you meet someone new the first question they ask is what do you do? Street vendors sell ID lanyards. The Smithsonian and Kennedy Center own, plus you can walk up and down the stairs from The Exorcist.

I nominate Salem, Oregon. Place is a meth-ridden shithole with no cool architecture, poo poo people, the only businesses that are open are TGIF et al and even then if you eat there you're like "I don't remember this place being so depressing and the food being so crappy". Meth everywhere, people throwing trash at bicyclists. A shithole totally devoid of merit or value. It is a place where laughter dies.
