From what I can tell the ending of the original cutscene you get at the end of GZ (the one where Paz exploded) was a lie. You see the real one here (a guy shot a rocket at you) to explain why she's alive. Why was there a lying cutscene? Snake's brain is damaged and Kojima likes loving with you.

I admit, I was kind of squicked at just *how* much they wanted Paz to suffer... And pre-flashback, the whole "And then she dies ANYWAY because there was a second bomb" really didn't sit well with me.

I have to say, although the reason for it is a bit weird, her particular reason for refusing to speak or write has its' own internal logic, though we won't find out the specifics for a while. Also, yeah, those armored guards are so annoying. Anyone whose icon doesn't go stunned/sleeping teal in color when held up is gonna swipe at you, which messed me up for way too long until I started CQCing them if they didn't change color. Looking up online there is a lot of inconsistent answers to whether or not you can kill her then replay and unlock her, or if you kill her she's gone forever, or going back after sparing her then killing her would permanently kill her off, if you don't do another mission after killing her you can replay and spare her and keep her... We also got a female volunteer from the mission where we spared Quiet. Boss is an Equal Opportunity employer. I have many emotions about Quiet, running the gamut from "I like that she's a confident, strong female character, as evidenced by the fact that she is absolutely there of her own free will and if she decided to leave there's not a drat thing they could do about it" to "Godfuckingdamnit Kojima, did you pack enough cheesecake in there" to "Of course she's a special snowflake who can turn invisible/immaterial and shares a super special deep understanding and connection with Boss, she's Kojima's Waifu". Nice work with the Enya there, Leal, got a chuckle out of me.

The female volunteers are a special one time thing, usually all volunteers or enemies are male. It must be a terrible work environment for them. I had fun playing as a woman from the combat team, but there are barely any around and most don't have stats which qualify them into the combat squad. I guess it's kinda realistic since most soviet soldiers at the time where male. But there actually were quite a few female ones around. It just feels weird. So far we've seen a lot of people. But when it comes to women we only saw a bunch of patients or nurses who got killed in the hospital, some special prisoners or volunteers, Paz and Quiet.

Getting Quiet was the best thing for me. Ever since I got her I have not used any other buddy in the game. Her ability to scout out the enemy locations is probably my favourite part of her, send her in to scout wait a little while and soon enough I can plan my moves. Also seeing a show I plain suck at stealth being awful at this whole "sneaking" thing when I am eventually discovered she serves as a great back up for dealing with the enemy, both in killing them and distracting them.

I've thought about it for a bit, about that being a spoiler and decided it shouldn't should be subjected to the no spoiler rules because of the extremely obvious hints.... But please, put those in spoiler tags because some people may not have caught on. I know its obvious cause her face looks the same and we get a good look at our would be assassin, not to mention the humming. Still, some people may of not caught on

I'm pretty sure that Big Boss doesn't know this at this point point either. He's not exactly the most perceptive person. To be fair, he was under a lot of physical and mental stress at that time, so his memory might be hazy. But there is no way that she wouldn't recognize him.

Yeah, until you do the Side Op to Recruit a Translator for a given language, the game actively won't subtitle their speech, not even with [speaks Russian] or something.

He's an Otacon, that's for sure. E: He even pisses himself in his introductory scene! I actually really like Huey's characterization from what I've seen so far and in Peace Walker. His lack of legs was something that really bothered him and is probably the cause for him focusing on bipedal locomotion. It's not surprising that he's improved on his motorized wheelchair and given himself some actual legs. Just don't think too hard about how he goes to the bathroom. As I recall, his "pull quote" in Peace Walker was "My father worked for the Manhattan Project. He only produced two things: the illusion of peace through nuclear deterrence... and me and my useless legs." He's got a bit of an obsession there...
