Evelyn Winter Evelyn popped her knuckles a few times. "My plan is to destroy them all. Any objections?" She made a brief gesture, and the symbol of the Crusader scorched itself into the smithy floor. There was a vague sense of the Crusader's presence. With another swipe of her hands, she pointed at Exclairmonde. For the former knight, time seemed to falter for a moment, and she experienced a brief, imperfect vision of the coming battle. Louise Septienne The elementals seemed highly resistant to blades, not surprising since they've been bound to a forge for a long time now. Well, she knows a trick or two about blades too. Louise steps past Exclairmonde with her blade held high, brimming with demonic energy. "My turn." She brings the blade down, it hits the earth elemental with a loud clap and leaves a deep fissure the stone. However, it rapidly begins to seal up as the elemental repairs itself. "Tsch! Evelyn Winter Evelyn looked at the water elemental, and the scorched sigil of the Crusader burst into flames. There was the unmistakable sensation of the Icon's aura within the smithy, and the water elemental recoiled back for a moment - even the near-mindless elemental could sense the power there. The elementals don't respond at all to your steel and valor. But they seem to be directed, pushing forward with all their strength. Indeed, the fire elementals slip past the melee, moving to harass your back lines. They whirl around, sending licks of flame everywhere. But the one going for Annabelle gets too wild! With a little glint in Louise's eye, the flames whip around the forge, searing the strange fleshy lump that seems to be leading them! It catches alight, and begins to emit a piercing scream as it begins to rush around. Evelyn, though, is not so lucky. The magical flames pierce the chaos warp around her, filling the air around her with heat and causing her to nearly faint. The whipping flames also settle on Louise, and her armor begins to get uncomfortably hot. The air elemental, begins to rise into the air, adding to the confusion by causing a small windstorm within the smithy. Tools and debris begin to whip around the room, the effect of which only seems to feed the fire elemental's power! Evelyn and Annabelle are badly battered in the confusion, and Evelyn is feeling closer and closer to losing consciousness. With Louise contending with her now burning armor, the water elemental also slips away. Obeying some sort of command, it begins to drive towards Baelgun! But Captain Findley is there, and she deftly avoids the elemental's liquid attacks. But whatever strange magic imbues this creature, it begins to recover as well. Findley responds by drawing her sword and slashing through the creature, spraying water everywhere. "This isn't right! Its like they're trying to kill the Dwarf! What's controlling them?" The fleshy creature, skin beginning to blacken from being set alight, has begun to rush around the room. It tries to squeeze through a crack in the window, but the pain its in causes it to pause. Annabelle quickly dodges past the fire creature, running zigzag in between the various combatant in the smithy, towards one of the anvils. It courses through the cracks to the very core of the elemental who explodes in a shower of pebbles. She smiles and strides past the heap of rocks to get in close to the fire elementals. The fire elementals look like they want to try to kill the dwarf, but Louise expertly keeps them contained. Except this only seems to make them angry! The rush in, fiery arms outspread, and envelop the tiefling in the searing embrace of magical flame. She's being nearly cooked alive! Embers from their heat settle on Exclairmonde, who's armor is also getting uncomfortably warm, and distressingly on Baelgun, who's clothes begin to catch. Evelyn is bowled away, landing hard on an anvil, and pieces of the earth elemental pelt Captain Findley. Louise Septienne Louise is having a hard time not buckling under the immense heat from the fire elementals, she would've been soaked in sweat if it wasn't evaporating faster than her skin could produce it. She was trapped in a veritable oven in the form of her armor, she can practically feel her flesh being seared at the points where the plate touches her skin directly. Her shield was useless, flames lick past it like it wasn't there. She stumbles down to one knee from the exertion. drat it, it's just a little heat! Just suck it up, fill your veins with fire and let your blood deal with it. It was going to be hard to outlast these beings of pure fire, she needed an edge. At her side on the floor she sees a large two-handed sword that must've been knocked off its rack by the gust of wind. Well, that was a bit literal but it'd have to do. She puts her scimitar and shield away and grasps it. She grits her teeth in determination. "On your feet Louise, soldiers stand or die." She gets up and swings her new blade in the air, extinguishing the fire on her armor in the process. "Come on you flaming idiots, round two! Evelyn Winter The heat in the smithy was intense, but in her current mindset, Evelyn found it easy to absorb it, literally burning her wounds away. For a moment she was literally on fire, but she had absorbed some of the destroyed earthen elemental's nature and did not burn. As Evelyn's aura of chaos in the smithy increased, she took on the power of the water elemental to douse her flames, and the power of the air elemental to dry herself. All boundaries were breaking down, and the elementals found their diametrically opposed natures mixing, rendering them inert and sluggish. One of the fire elementals managed to draw away from the chaos, but that just balanced out the fire even further in the mixture. When the chaos finally faded, and Evelyn was back to normal(ish), three of the elementals were adulterated by other elements; the water elemental was hampered by large bubbles that permeated its body, one of the fire elementals hissed with steam as it tried to expel the large quantity of water it had taken on, and the air elemental was smoking and sputtering like a dying fire. Annabelle sees the young soldier Claire and Evelyn brought with them from the court hard-pressed by the fluid monster. She takes a high rising jump, from the top of the furnace, over the two fire creatures, extends her blade buries it, with full force right into the back of the watery gestalt. There is a big "splosh" and Annabelle falls right through the creature. She was sure her hit connected, but apparently, there was no real damage. The elementals shudder and sputter, hiss and writhe under Evelyn's assault. But they're not finished yet, and the mixing of their elemental essences seems to have enraged them even further! The fire elementals are expertly hemmed in by Louise, Zyanya, and Exclairmonde, but that doesn't mean they're harmless just yet. One continues to try to cook Louise, and a stray ember flits up into the air and catches Evelyn's clothes alight! The other is spurting gouts of water, but super heated steam is still dangerous, as Zyanya finds out as a gout of scalding water strikes her and leaves her stinging! The water elemental surges towards Annabelle, but the small goblin nimbly hops over the living wave. It was a close thing though, if it hadn't been slowed down by the bubbles inside it, Annabelle might have been in trouble. Trouble, though, is waiting in the air. The air elemental, still going strong, sees an opportunity. It swoops down into the office where Captain Findley and Baelgun are still making their stand, and bowls right into the guard captain! Tired as she is, she doesn't hold her ground, and she is sent tumbling backwards... where her head hits the desk and she falls to the floor, quite still. Baelgun stares at her. "Gods above. Help! Louise Septienne "Your fire forged this sword didn't it?" Louise brings the large blade down in a heavy swing cutting a straight line across the elemental, bisecting it in two equally large shares. There's a bright flash and then all that remains of the fire elemental is a faint afterimage on her retina. "It's almost poetic that it was your undoing." She turns around and faces the remaining elementals with a fierce grin. "Anyone else involved in making this blade? Step right up!" Attack Green Fire Elemental: 1d20+5+3 18 vs AC, hit! Frustrated that her aerial attack wasn't the coup de grâce she hoped for, Annabelle turns around and simply trusts her blade in the water creature. If those things had a more humanoid anatomy, she could have cut them into pieces easily. Now the poor human soldier is down and she could already hear the blame being laid on them. To her surprise, her attack actually really connects this time. Her blade sinks deep in to the watery texture of the monster's substance and she is sure she can feel it shiver in pain. Right, a rough fight, but that's good enough. The water elemental falls to Annabelle's blades! She neatly bisects it and it collapses into a puddle on the floor. But the air elemental flits about, and follows its directive. It swoops towards Baelgun, ready to pick him up and slam him bodily into the nearby sword... Until Baelgun yelps and, with all his might, shifts himself out of the way! The air elemental slams into the desk behind him, and twists in a daze. And shortly afterwards, you finish the fight, quickly dispatching the remaining elementals. But at what cost? You nearly collapse to the floor, beaten and bruised. The smithy, formerly so orderly, is now a destroyed mess, the devil you noticed escaped in the confusion. And Captain Angua Findley lies on the floor, bleeding from a head wound, her breathing ragged and shallow. Air ele gets one last hit on Baelgun... 12 misses! Fights over... but now what?

Louise Septienne Louise wipes some soot off her face and takes a second to catch her breath. But there was no time to rest yet. She did not know who the person who fought by their side was, all she knew was that she stood her ground and protected a defenseless dwarf. That's all she needed to know. Louise rushes to her side and kneels down by her head. "Hey, don't try to move." Good, she's still breathing, but head wounds are nasty. "Can you hear me? What's your name?" Not much to do but try to make contact and keep her awake. Bleeding needed to be stopped though. "Stay with me alright?" She digs up a clean cloth from her pack and holds it firmly against the wound. "Everyone is alive and more or less intact, you did good. How many fingers am I holding up?" Evelyn Winter Evelyn joined Louise at Angua's side. It wasn't common knowledge, but chaos magic, performed properly, could have healing properties. It was just that it a) took a while to get it right, and b) looked quite horrifying. Louise seemed to have Angua stabilized, but there was the small matter of a devil on the loose. The Captain needed to be on her feet as soon as possible. "Captain, I'm going to fix you up a bit, with magic. Ever been to a cleric? The principle is almost sort of the same. I just want you to keep your eyes shut until I say, and if you feel like you've grown any extra limbs or carapaces, try not to move them or think about them too hard. It'll eventually pass. Everyone else, you may want to look away for a minute or two." Evelyn laid her hand on Angua's forehead and started channelling energy. There was the occasional creak and minor explosion as she earthed the less...restorative magic into her surroundings rather than her patient, but that was nothing compared to the slo-mo horror show that was Angua's physical form. It wasn't painful, but it was certainly hard to look at. The nicest thing that could be said was that during the majority of the process the Captain looked vaguely humanoid. However, the magic was eventually successful, and Angua's wounds had closed, leaving nothing behind but a thin carapace that swiftly flaked off. "All better." Repeated casts of Chaos Blessing until it comes up 'Recovery'!

Louise quickly and efficiently administers first aid. The bandage limits the flow of blood, and while she works, the Captain's eyes flicker open. "Muh... Captain Angua Findley, Renfall Guard. Is... Is Baelgun okay? Okay, three fingers." She's dazed, but lucid. She's stable, but she needs a cleric and rest to really recover. Still, she reaches in her cloak and pulls out a bell. "Take this guard bell... Get back up... they can get me to the temple." Evelyn steps up and does what she can though. Captain Findley closes her eyes and grimaces a bit, clearly the process is a bit uncomfortable. But when Evelyn finishes, the Captain manages to sit up. "Ugh, I'm going to need to be quicker, if only so I can avoid that process again. I think I'll be okay now, but I'd hate to take a spill like that again." I'm gonna rule... that the Captain's 'recoveries' are used up, being an NPC and all. Zyanya examines the crack where the devil escaped from. Black, sooty residue lines the crack. She rushes outside to the other side of the wall, and takes another look around. Yes, it looks like the burn it got means it was shedding bits of burnt flesh as it fled. But from here Zyanya sees the trail of it wind into the busy evening streets of Renfall. They would need to hurry before the trail gets trodden into the dirt. Baelgun struggles upwards. "Protection! I need protection! That creature told me to leave the unfinished swords in an alley uptown! That's all I know, but promise me you can keep me safe!" Louise Septienne "Baelgun, you'll be safe after we've uprooted the devils, right now we need to take up pursuit before the trail goes cold. I'd leave you with the authorities but I'm not sure who to trust in here, I wouldn't be surprised if the devil's influence goes all the way to the top. You could come with us into danger but someone like you should know of a place to lie low, right?" Louise nods to the hidden compartment in the corner. "The smithy will be the last place they'll look. Unless you have some reason to believe that they can sense your whereabouts?"

Zyanya Zyanya smirks at the idea of locking the dwarf away in the forge. It was a solid idea, which only makes it funnier. "Either way, we can't waste much time. The devil left only ashes." While she doesn't much mind how they 'store' Baelgun in the mean time, Zyanya is adamant that something be done to protect him. She personally doesn't feel comfortable assigning much of the blame to him. A devil's purpose is to tempt and deceive.
